I gig with three Macs and one Pee Cee. They work week-in/week-out without a problem. Once I had a stable system working, I left it alone. IMO, tweaking for the sake of it is just asking for trouble.
And as my business relies on the equipment, I'd never be foolish enough to buy Rev 1 of anything.

Yhtomit, the Aluminum iMac ia a Rev 1. It's the first of its kind.
Although the issue with freezing seems to be solved by now as reported here:
http://www.macrumors.com/2007/11/15/ima ... pdate-1-0/
Some reports the issue still happening.
Nobody knows when Apple does upgrades, but on Jan 15 2008 Mac World will be there, so I'll wait. It's always been an event to launch new product or revise current ones. Waiting a month shouldn't be hard. In the meantime you can collect and compare informations on the Internet.

How long does it usually take from an announcement on Macworld until you can actually buy the product (preferably in Germany/Europe)? I'm waiting for Penryn based Macbook Pros to hit the stores until I'm gonna buy me into Apple.

Usually a week or more initially from the Apple Webstore.
Recently Apple Stores have grown smarter and they have the real product there
in a couple of week time after the announcement but it depends on demand.

I was given a new PC at work last week. My old work machine ran Windows 2000, and the new one is on XP with 1 gig of RAM and a fast processor.
Um...
Yeah, Apple makes more consumer stuff than they used to, but honestly, the Windows OS is pure and utter dogshit. And I mean dogshit with a captial D and an exclamation point at the end.

Thanks for the info!
I don't think Windows XP is crap at all, it's a very good OS but the GUI is lacking. Vista is actually even better under the hood, but some concepts are still new and not practically tested that much.

Apple launched SantaRosa Laptops two days after INtel announcement of availability.
Apple launched Dual Cores in Laptops more than a year ago when everybody was still on Pentium architecture. That's part of the Intel-Apple agreement. Just the facts.
BTW I don't like the way Apple behaves but facts are just facts...
