My son just saw Star Wars Episode II for the 110th time, and now wants to have a "greatest lightsaber battle ever". So I'll stop threadjacking and get down to serious business...that little motherfucker is totally goin' down...

later...

 Have fun you two. Time for bed here!

PS: At least my link proved that I am in fact a musician and not a pure technician. ;)

Hm, I repeated parts of my tests after installing SP3 and measured a big drop of CPU load. I uninstalled SP3 back to SP2 but the drop remains. I do not think this is related to SP3. Maybe something in my system was setup wrong which the SP3 installation made right again. Tarekith' performance test did not change, only my own.

I had been changing my clockings and reset my BIOS settings last week, but now everything is setup again as it was when I first did these tests. Still CPU load dropped alot for some reason.

For example: playing 24 concurrent Simpler instances via Drum Rack without mouse-movement with MultiCore support ON dropped from an average of 14% to about 4%. No idea what's the reason, but I like it.

I am now convinced that you make no music at all. Please trade in your guitar for a lab coat, a beaker, and a Bunsen burner, and some hair gel to get that perfect "mad scientist" look.

my musical partner is the same. since two years he tells me "I only need to reinstall windows first" or "when I have sorted out my problems with my library I can really start", or "I have to return my computer, when I hit pause there is a jump in the CPU." or stuff like this. His computer is his best excuse for not making music.

I recently started to play in a folk band again. No computers. We don't even need amplifiers.

But I also 'finished' two electronic tracks this weekend, "Arpeggdub22" on my own myspace page and "Der General Itat" on the Institut FATIMA-myspace page.

 Please don't forget that I am a PC professional for more than 10 years now, so these kind of things come natural to me. It didn't even take long to redo that test, I was just curious if SP3 would have any impact on Live's performance. 8)

I didnt know there is SP3, just looked on MS site, there is only "release candidate" version. Safe to install it? I actually was thinking of doing clean install anyway but perhaps that is better idea.
I am downloading it right now, but before clicking that install button better hear from IT experts here.

I'm running SP3 RC without any issues. It actually works pretty well, and my RAM requirements went down, so overall a good release. You can wait for SP3, but it won't be released till next quarter.

Thanks, just read some reviews- rather enthusiastic, so in 5 minutes will click on it.

Wanna produce me? ;) Nah, first I have to learn the skills and tech necessary to make my music. I'm mostly a one-man show now, that's a huge change for me and I cannot even say if I'm able to do this. Give me a mic and a tune and I can sing to it spot-on, but this here is alot different... :?

Timur Meister , I am getting "Zugriff verweigert". Activated Automatic updates , tried again same thing., meaning the process goes into reverse.

>>Die Instalation des Service Pack 3 wurde nicht abgeschlossen. Windows XP wurde teilweise aktualisiert und funktioniert eventuel nicht richtig<<

That does not sound too good!
Any other services that I might need to activate?
I am not that desperate for the SP3 but since I got into it wouldn't mind trying again
