their problem has been that they are blinded by their isolation, there some of the most talented folks in the business for sure but they can't see the forest for the trees, there workflow is cow dung as their interfaces, they are one of the few companies that remind me of one of these political parties that can't get with the 'it's time to change washington' concept,
but i bet this is all about to change i bet this new thing is a result of the supremely talented Mr. persing opening his mind a bit. it should turn out to be something great if that's the case.

Either that or it's Spectrasonics Atmosphere version 2.0 that is coded for Intel based Macs and they sampled the EMU Command Station this time.... Whoo Hoo!

Seriously, I hope it's cool. There stuff sounds MASSIVE (no pun intended) on a G4...

agreed. it's probably a multi-track midi/audio looper/drum machine/ Live-killer. Might be cool. In a year. When the main bugs are worked out. But by then we will have Live 8.

Nah, it means you'll need a lifetime to understand the gui, get useable sound out of it and finally persuade the copy protection - which has taken years to create - not to blow your computer.

i hope its atmosphere 2 for intel macs. It better be pretty freaking impressive whatever it is, they haven't been doing too much else that people want.

If it's atmosphere 2, that wold be great. I'd be just as uninterested in it as in Atmosphere 1. A rompler that does pads is something I would never even consider. I like it when things come out that I have no interest in. I don't like wanting new things. So here's to hoping it's atmosphere 2.

For what it's worth, a good ROMpler pad can go a long way on a track. That being said there isn't a whole lot you can do it make a rompler evolve. It's still going to sound like a Roland JV series module. 1990's signature sounds.

I'm beginning to think this is going to be a groovebox... all inclusive peice of software. Something to rival Reason more so than Live. I'm curious. I figure if they sell there soft synths like Atmosphere for around $399 a full on, standalone Groovebox is going to cost roughly $500 if not more. This is pure speculation but for that money I'll look elsewhere. You can buy a nice bit of hardware for that price.

I don't know... to quote Eric:

The XPANDED special offer for existing RMX users to complete their Xpander collections is available here:

http://techshop.spectrasonics.net/

Offer expires January 13th

The special offer is available to any eligible Stylus RMX registered user worldwide.

The individual SAGE Xpanders are still priced at $99 each and there are no plans to change the pricing in the future.

From this kvr thread:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1&start=45

That statement makes me think RMX is not part of Jan 17th. EP/Spec shoot pretty straight with their customer base as well, so I doubt they're trying to clear out old stock before announcing something new/better.

the drum sound they play for various commercial breaks and usually at the end of the show in lost is an atmosphere preset as well.

If it's not Atmosphere 2/RMX, they need to pick a different image.
