Thank you for asking. I wish to draw your attention to the fact that there is a user on the Ableton Live forum called "Landser". It has escaped the attention of most people that this is also the name of a Neo-Nazi band. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landser_(band)

I am saddened that scum like this should have a mouthpiece on your forum.

Why don't you use your real login if your intentions are so good?

a]..so a nazi band adopt the name 'landser' ...is it not a common german word, that simply means a low ranking soldier ? or does it have definite nazi connections these days ?

b] has the user 'landser' displayed any kind of nazi tendencies or rhetoric ?

that's an open question by the way...any takers ?

sorry smartass303,
gotta disagree with you here...
godwin's law has only ever been invoked a couple of times since I've been hanging out here, 2+ yrs

not only that, but last I remember the majority of people seemed to agree that godwin's law is a load of bullshit, and should never have left usenet. which might be why it's rarely invoked. not only that, it's a debate killer....and most of the politic-posters 'round these parts prefer to continue a debate rather than shut it down

but hey.
hey what?
Most of the political debates in here come to a point where someone is going to put the nazi hammer. When monty is bumping a thread someone is going to call him names > godwins law
Unlike usenet, in here the people are going to debate on and on and on and on....
Just like VW Beetle or the Duracell Rabbit.

is it known for a fact that he is part of that band or are you just speculating?

and so what if he is?
I did not read anything that hints to spreading nazi propaganda or ideology..

how do u know he is in the band?

Landser, Haut-Rhin, is also a village. In his sig he says he is from 'dreiländereck' (three country corner) which is reference to the small part of the world between fribourg (germany), basel (switzerland) and moulhouse (france).

The village Landser, Haut-Rhin, is exactly in this part of the world:
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=Lan ... a=N&tab=wl

My guess is that his name is probably only a reference to his location, as opposed to his position in the neo-nazi band.

Anyway, it could mean a lot of things. Unless you know exatly what you are talking about, it is a bit shite to beast in without knowing all the facts and brand a dude a neo-nazi.

Then again, you may be privvy to special knowlege ... care to elaborate? How do you know he represents this band?

awkward trivia..
the band renamed themselves Joy Division in late 1977,
borrowing their new name from the prostitution wing of a Nazi concentration camp mentioned in the 1965 novel The House of Dolls.

sounds nice in theory smartass, but the reality of the situation is godwin's law has only been invoked here a couple of times in a donkey's age. Last time I saw someone try to invoke godwin's law, it was pretty unanimously shot-down. ages ago. and the time before that it was shotdown too.

anyways, them's just the facts holmes....godwin's law aint as common here as you seem to think.

No shit huh

Well, The ironic stupidity vortex is in full swing. What to do? And what about my own irony of posting to this thread?

In the spirit of self moderation, lets this thread fall off the top page.

If the OP has good (though really stupid) intentions (not), delete your post, or at least change the title.

Let it drop off folks. Pardon my own ironic participation.
