Another great DnB group to check out is Pendulum. They're very oganic and have a lot of variety to them, kind of like the Prodigy of DnB. You don't find yourself listening to them and thinking you've been listening to the same song for the last 45 minutes.

beats me wrote:If I were a real drummer I would probably fall asleep playing straight house or trance, not a lot of variations going on there. I'm one of those non drummers that owns vdrums for whatever reason and I still fall asleep playing to house tracks. It's fun for about 10 minutes.
Usually I just cheat and let a drum machine do the basic 4/4 house kick and play something else more interesting
Anyway - its actualy hard work pounding away a 4/4 on pedal-hh and kick endlessly - bollox to that

If you hate something enough to have criticism then you have already premeditated how to make something you would like. It's like someone told you solution to a problem and you have a different way of solving it for a better answer. This is goes along with what I believe people mean when they say music is derivative. Emotional response is celarly what seperates music from math (imo).

I don't think this is a debate whether you like D&B or not, it's if you like live performance or not. DJs bore the hell out of me these days unless they are really amazing. However, seeing an artist play the same music live will definitely excite me.

While this thread holds the attention of a lot of drummers it seems, would any of you know how Anders pulls off his hi-hat technique? Its unbelievably fast!

The Sisters of Mercy hate goth rock.
Skinny Puppy, I remember, used to consider themselves goth, not industrial.
Autechre, as I remember at one point, insisted their music was industrial, not IDM.
So do whatever you enjoy doing, and call it whatever you enjoy calling it
