MPD is emerging from a long history of breakbeat/hip hop beat makers dealing with vinyle stuff, scratching with turntables, moving their heads with energy when the beat is groovy then jumpin' around...
so the mpd pads has to be rough and tough, and the gear box has itself to be solid and shock resistant
check the french dude "peter digital orchestra"... he even plays live with his elbows, knees, and even his ass !!
(he rocks BTW)
I would'nt lend my padkontrol to someone used to deal with MPC's
padkontrol is more "precise" and "sensitive" oriented, perhap's made to match with recording more speedy rythms like drum'n bass, double bass kicks for metal oriented riddims, real drums VST's that need lots of velocity levels..., IDM and electronica...
you TOUCH it with your finger pulp, you dont HIT it or the little plastic box could implode ...
