dude, you need phantom power. what that is is a di box. if your sound card doesn't supply phantom power, you need a preamp. if the store has a presonus tube pre, get that, cheap but usable. tell the moron salesman you need a fucking preamp. mic to preamp, preamp to sound card. check the outputs of the preamp, see if it has jacks or xlr, and get the right cord.

yeah well got a dynamic phillips i bought, but eh.
Ok presonus on the notes, packing the linedriver. So you say i should get rid of the linedriver and put in the preamp between.
if they do not have a preamp tomorrow at the place i'll get the money and buy one another place i really have to record this weekend..

[edit] as said previously, mic plugs into input, you run either XLR or 1/4" out to soundcard.
Now, I have a stereo DI, in case I want to run into a house mixing board and all they have are XLR, but that is *after* the interface:
