do you just ignore all of the posts and solutions in this thread? Duh, we all know that. What software can you name that lets you have mono single hardware outs from tracks?

y'know, a lot of mixing boards are like that for bussing. options are like, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, etc. and you pan to choose if ya go mono.

Leisuremuffin has an excellent point.
Go get on an Amek 9098i, or an SSL 9000j, route some tracks, and youo will understand.

zactly. Don't know where tony is at, but when you want mono, you pan hard--its as simple as that. still wondering why on earth he wants 8 mono outs--Live don't do 7.1 surround

This is even how analogue consoles work. Pan left, right. It's not a problem.

umm, I thought surround mixing was somewhat of a specialty thing what with the LFE and all. Sure you could come up with some sort of workaround/hack surround mixing in Live, but it doesn't support suround mixing formally.

BUT...
getting back to the brass tacks of the post...
what antonio wants is possible... where he should be spending his time investigating is his RME drivers!!! As stated above when using an 828MkII you can simply unlink the 8 analog outputs in the driver, and then all analog outputs show up independantly in Live. Check driver settings.

uhhhm, even with sends it would be pretty hard to do a surround mix in live. i mean, you could do it with sends but what a bitch it would be to position a sound!! you'd really need to be able to assign to a 5.1 matrix with a square position field...

Not to mention you would have no real control over diversion using only sends.
