if the novation remote works like it its supposed to (and i assume it does), i'd get more use out my bcr2000 by breaking it apart and using the shattered plastic for guitar picks. still.. the bcr is insanely capable, especially when you look at price comparison. the huskervu program that works with bcr mackie emu kind of maps out a display of encoder functions on your computer screen which can go a long ways toward getting you close to the novation functionality which is really nice.

Is it possible to compare the BCR2000 to the Korg Zero 8 or are it two completely different devices?

Remote Zero ?
Personally no - I'd choose the BCR.
I'm a big fan of Macro mapping in Live, and I find that you don't need to see the names of the controls on the bcr - it's pretty obvious IMO. It's far more useful to have the position of the encoders automatically changing acording to which macro you select.
Also with a bit of geeking around you can easily get the Bottom two rows of knobs in the BCR to line up in the same way as the macro's (ie 2 rows of 4).
Don't bother with the external editor - the unit is very simple to program by itself.
BCR is a no brainer IMO, especially for live performance in low light.

Nope. Pricing alone should make that clear. BCR ~135 Euro VS Zero8 ~1700 Euro.

hi there,
I seem to have a problem with mine. I used to use it through a hub with some other stuff connected but now when I try to use it without my hub in between ableton doesn't receive any signal anymore... any thoughts on how to fix my problem?

bcr's are cool. You won't regret buying one.
kemiko - my bcr, and I assume all bcr's, is considered a new piece of hardware each time it is plugged into a new usb port - as such I had to reinstall the usb driver for it 4 times for it to be recognised on my 4 usb ports. Since you were using a usb hub, I would try plugging it in and then running the behringer bcr usb driver found
here

kemiko you may need to rescan your midi devices under audio midi setup then.
i think its under apps/utilities. im not sure i use quicksilver so when i need to get to it i just type midi.
anyways it is pretty easy in audio midi setup to remove a device. ie. remove the entry for where os x shows your bcr2000 not connected via your usb hub. then plug it in directly to the mac, then hit rescan midi devices. basically if audio midi setup has an entry for your bcr2000 but is looking for it via the hub, you want to remove that entry, then rescan so it can create a new one that looks for it directly on a usb port.
if that doesnt work try creating a new configuration with the bcr plugged in and on. then it should set you up a new midi config based on whatever midi devices are currently connected to your computer without worrying about any devices that were connected previously.

Is it USB bus powered, or does it need a power supply?

it has a power supply, that's the only thing i can find wrong w/ it. imo they are great! i own several controllers and this one is my favorite/easiest/most used unit, and it's the cheapest! i love how the top row of encoders are also push buttons. this row has 4 sub-presets per preset! awesome design. i have used mine with my macbook pro right out of the box w/o any problems. Maz.
behringer is a joke

Seems like i'm sort of going against the grain on this one, but are people really that satisfied with this controller? The knobs and resolution are nice but they feel like a toy, no rubber or resistance at all. I couldn't believe how crappy the construction is! The LCD is nice but its not even a bus-powered controller. I would stay away from any behringer products. There are plenty of other options for controllers with just knobs and faders that have nice, plush knobs and are bus powered.

i would agree that it feels a bit like a toy, and i would prefer smaller, rubber knobs along with bus power. but, it has the greatest layout w/ 16 buttons, 3 rows of 8 encoders, and the best...the top row of 8 push encoders w/ 4 presets per preset! i don't see that type of inter-preset dynamics on any other controllers that i have seen. still the best one i have imho.

Do you by any chance have the novation automap server software installed?

I have a novation remote yes... could that be the problem?
