What the heck is Ibiza?
I've seen It's All Gone Pete Tong (stupid movie title) but didn't associate it with a place as I wouldn't with most movies. Any movie studio can turn a location into a club paradise.
There's lots of lush tropical locations on the planet but that one has always seemed to get the raver stamp of approval. So just wondered with the deal is.....was?
I don't think I'd travel that far just to party. Too much cool history in Europe to ignore and too many places in the states to get stupid and party.

Ah Ibiza...
Beaches full of needles, used condoms, smoked cigarettes and plastic cups.
A ticket to a club costs about 100€ and drinks are about 10€ a piece for the cheap ones.
Its filled with about 15% females, 15% Gay dude(tte)s, 10% Dj's and 60% British dudes.
A DJ can make a fortune there during the summer. Ibiza is partially responsible for the "Superstar DJ" phenomena.
I've never been there and its mostly due to the stories of disappointed friends.
Sounds like the ultimate party haven on paper (in the nineties at least).
Between cities like Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp... I've never really felt the need to waste about a 1000 euros on what is essentially the european dance scene squeezed onto an island filled with Britts.

LOL at some of the peoples descriptions.
Like any Island in the Balearics it's got parts which are full of brits and a bit lager lout ish (San Antonio)
It' also amazingly beautiful, windswept, volcanic, rugged and eye catching. To dismiss it out of hand is a little silly ,.
If you like electronic music and you are into underground electronic music then DC10 and Cocoon (possibly folloing on from Space Sunday's session) then it's a pretty amazing experience.
i thought it was crap till I went there. i then thought it was the most amazing place I had ever been. There are good places that play coolmusic and have decent peiople that you don't have to pay 100 quid for, such as underground. We went there on the 2nd to last nigth, left tehre got taken to a party on a hillside by some italian friends we had met and had a blissful next day listening to tunes and dancing in the sunshine in the middle of nowhere. I wanted to cry when I had to come home
All of those things are what you make of them.Go looking for shit and you will surely find it. But scratch beneath the surface and there's a grand old time to be had. . .
Obv here's your pete tongs and pacha's n stuf but just as in London I would avoid like the plague. . And just as in London there is loads and loads of cool music and paries etc. . .
If you dont go then you dont know what you are missing. . .
My 2 c's worth anyway

I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

Wow. What a detailed description. You sound like you know what you're talking about.hoffman2k wrote:Ah Ibiza...

Any raver in Europe has been or knows people who have been.
Some have the time of their life. Others cringe if they ever hear the word ibiza again.
Its a detailed description because its essentially a summary from the stories I've heard. And its not like Ibiza is some untapped secret island off the coast...
Between 1995 and 2002-ish, "Ibiza clubs" were all the rave.
Personally I prefer the end-of-season (ibiza season) party in Frankfurt.
Green & Blue by cocoon. Falls right on my birthday.
In retrospect, I should have started the previous post with the second paragraph. But what the hell. Live a little

Ive been to Ibiza 4 times, if you like clubbing and your from the Uk you go to Ibiza. Basically all the DJ's and club nifghts are out there. Most of europes trendy young kids getting mashed on drugs and listening to house music.
The one thing you cant get away from is house music and when youve been stuffing your gob with mdma for 3 days and nights it can all get a bit much.
my last trip involved my brothers girlfriend having a nervous breakdown, i was smacked by my best mate and we lost a car. ,
Its beautiful island and great fun, you just have to take care of yourself Avoid san antonio and hunt out the underground parties. I saw cold cut up in the hills with more beautifull women than you could shake a stick at.
Id recommend it to anyone

Sorta sounds like Burning Man here in the states which only lasts a week. Tens of thousands of people camp out in the middle of the dessert, get high, live in filth, and listen to music that would sound like shit if you aren't high. And every year some ass gets killed when a bus made out of cabage leaves plows through a drum circle. Some dude last year hung himself and nobody pulled him down for hours because they thought it was performance art.
