i don't know what the equivalent of a PC .txt file is on a mac, sorry, but i'm pretty sure this trick should work on a Mac as well. i guess we need to figure it out how to translate it to a Mac.
can any Mac user help on this?

PROBLEM SOLVED!
Find the right directory at:
/UserName/Library/Preferences/Ableton
this is such an odd way to fix it, but as stated earlier, make a file called 'options.txt' which holds the following code:
-_Live6ClockOutputCompatibility
that's all. add it to the above dir and it works like magic.
if you happen to be so noobish that you dont knnow how to make a txt file, get it here: :
http://www.fakemedia.nl/files/options.txt
Thanks for the original poster, hopefully this helps others with the same problem[/url]

holy crap, i should have read the 7.0.3 change log more carefully...
When Live is running as the MIDI clock master, the first two sent MIDI clock messages could have the same time stamp. An Options.txt entry called '-_Live6ClockOutputCompatibility' brings back the old behavior if required.
indeed, thanks a lot for pointing that one out! it fixed my drifting midi clock problems and i'm finally back in business... cheers!

hi
The txt slution somewhow does not work with me..
Ever since i upgraded from Live 5 my external instruments'es bpm speeds up and slows down as if modulated by a random wave LFO with low depth. i have live 7.0.7 on a mac osx 10.4 with an maudio 410 interface and a remote sl25 that controls a waldorf rack attack and an electribe esx ive tried all midi ports and i have the same problem using live as master or as slave.
I formatted my hd and i still have the same problem..
does anyone know if the Live6outputcompatibility file work with all versions of live 7?

the problem isnt always with the software... hardware can be a bit crappy too!
for instance, i have yet to work out a way of sending / receiving a stable MIDI clock through the novation SL (latest drivers etc...). i suspect novation took a few shortcuts in manufacturing the SL to keep the retail price down...
there is also the YMMV factor - i am not a fan of maudio gear (had lots of problems with the 410), but on the other hand i have been using a 2x2 midi sport for years and it works really well!
if i had a few spare notes i would get an emagic unitor MIDI card, that has unbelievable MIDI specs.
hth,
Justin

i'm using 7.07 and the txt file worked for me. according to Ableton support, it should also work with the Mac version.

Yep.. both my midi interfaces dont go great.. i have had always some problem or the other. but this random-wave bpm problem only occured after upgrading to live 7, since i had live 5 this problem did not occur.

Neither Mac OSX or Windoz can work in realtime, I think we need Audio Pro OS from those two company.(I would prefer OSX)
I've heard somewhere that LINUX can do realtime...Can somebody confirm this?
Can we have ABLETON LIVE FOR LINUX??????????????????????????????
UNSTABLE MIDI CLOCK TO MY EXTERNAL GEAR (Clavia Nord Modular G2) is MY BIGGEST FRUSTRATION.
Sometimes life suck....Damn Computer !!!!!!!!!

Ableton is drifting....and im FREAKIN SICK AND TIRED OF IT!! Dont get me wrong I absolutely love this prg..but how the FAK am i going to use this in a live situation??
I mean Live was made for doing stuff live right? ARRG!!! so i did a little bassline on my hardware Pro-One (yeah there is actually some of us that still uses HARDWARE SYNTHs!!)... alongside a drumrack track, took some pix and uploaded the track..
Oh yeah and btw im gonna SPAM every thread i can find about this problem..F the economic crisis, F global warming, F rising food prices, F Iraq and F everything else..the F-ing UN have to step up now and solve this WORLD crisis or ableton at least!!
Heres my setup:
MacBook Pro running Leopard
Ableton Live 7.0.10
Tc Konnekt Live Interfacae
In this case its hooked up to my Kenton Pro Solo controlling a Sequential Pro-one
hardware synth
LISTEN: ARRG!!just scroll the damn track..
