I was waiting patiently till the last track was released (if you don't know they were released over time) and the last track, 58 minutes long now that sounds exciting. NOPE. 58 minutes that is better spent doing anything other than listen to that track.
I'm really disappointed.
Dunno, God awful though. Autechre. What in the fuck happened to the Second Bad Vibel sound?
I have an uneasy feeling that the Cycling 74 and Ableton marriage will be just as worthless.

sure those albums were good too, and quaristice definetly didn't sound like them, but thats because it was intended to be a kind of gritty live approach to the music. broken down and simplified a bit. I like it for that.Idonotlikebroccoli wrote:Quaristice is alright, but it's not nearly as good as Confield, Draft 7.30 and Garbage EP in my opinion. This quadrange ep seems like a load of bollocks to be honset.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

mate. i saw them at dour festival. in a tent, they turned all the lights out completely so the only thing you saw was two usb flashlight thingies on their whateverthefucktheyareusing consoles, and two poeple slightly moving around occasionalyl turning a knob or two.justin wrote:They are also excellent at doing completely great stuffblank wrote:They are also excellent at doing complete krap
it's a known fact
it's a known fact... (or a subjective opinion)
havent heard this particular release, but i got the latest album and the limited edition version, and i prefer the limited edition version.
some of the comments here come across as a little harsh for a band who have written so much excellent and pioneering material, and do some great live sets...
great liveset my ass.
yeah, im an autechre fan at that.

some of the best live sets i've heard, ever.
in fact, i don't think ive heard anyone top them when they're at their best.
electronic music doesn't have to be a rock show.
shit, no form of music has to be a rock show. You're missing the point if you're in a completely dark room where the performer has intentionally obscured what they're doing and you are thinking "this is crap, i don't see anything." You don't have to see anything. Try listening.

but when i saw them at dour live i was very disappointed.
im not saying that a liveset has to be a rockshow, i was just explaining how they looked. as for the music: it was..mediocre.
it made me dance a bit, but it also made me leave before they were finished, because it was uninspiring and quite.. uninteresting.
and when the music is like that, and when you have a nonexistant performance show it becomes pretty far from a good liveset.
so yeah, i thought it was pretty bad.
and again: im an autechre fan.

OK, well, this is what you posted, so I replied the way i did. If you said the music was bad, that's different. You didn't say that until now.
I've only seen them 4 times, and some shows were definately better than others. Even when i saw them in ny, and then in princeton like a day later, the sets were totally different and princeton was much much better. At least that shows that they are actually playing live, and that mistakes can be made....
I still haven't heard anyone do live electronic music better.... but that's just my opinion.

here's a few from 2001:
http://www.archive.org/details/Autechre
also, the we are the music makers forum has a pretty amazing repository of live sets.... however, i'm not sure how you get at them now that they have been moved to a special downloads section. They used to just be laid bare in a thread for anyone to pick up... oh well.

I would just Love to see a picture of you in your natural environment oh Zeus God of gods. I gotta tell ya, your track Pound Puppy = absolute genius. Why don't you take your WACK ASS pound puppy lyrics and tape yourself (instead of to a pound puppy) to a toilet seat and pound your puppy until it falls off asshole. You say I should have been a blow job in a bathroom instead of being born? Listen to your shitty music shit face. If I should have been a blow job, you should have landed on the toilet floor of a truck stop.
Asshole.
Are you kidding? http://www.virb.com/poundpuppy
All the shit you talk and this is what you put up? Sit down before you hurt yourself.
And defending the new half baked Autechre album? Thats a laugh. Musically, thats like forest gump >>*you*<< giving a speech defending new realms of Quantum Mechanics. Of course it sounds like genius to you, your an inept musical moron.
