I can't find a way to upload music to Virb - is this possible?

Why not build your own site, then use myspace, facebook, etc. etc. to promote and drive traffic to your own thing.

You can, but it's really not necessary for everyone...
Web space maybe yes, a custom site? Not entirely.
I decided to make a site and do all the other networking sites, but for my other band I just bought the domain and since my domain service charges for domain forwarding I just made a php redirect.
So when you goto the page it just goes directly to the myspace page, or whatever I want it to go to. With the php redirect it's instant, and you never see the original page.

Hmmm ... I don't have an Add Album button ... only "Dashboard", "Playlists" and a couple of others. The "Music" button at the top of the screen just brings up the general music section.

that's another shitty thing about myspace: some people have their page so decked out with sloppy codes, videos, animated gifs, etc., that they slow my computer to a grinding halt, at times even crashing my browser.
that said, i like the more simple editors; I used Thomas' Myspace Editor (google it). But I like simple layouts, nothing too flashy. The REALLY nice pages are definitely not created by your run-of-the-mill free myspace profile editors, but by someone who knows what they're doing (not me).
Anyone else know of a good, simple, reliable page editor?

Ok, the site is still a beta version i think, so you need someone who's already a member to invite you to become a new member.

+1 on
http://www.last.fm
and
http://www.virb.com
Somehow I feel Last.FM to be extra appealing, maybe because it's been around for so long and there's still nearly no sight of stat's/friend-whoring like on MySpace (atleast I haven't had more than one try so far).

I'd use Facebook with Last.FM and iLike linked to it. You need to create a personal account, then from there you can create a page for you act, where you can post pics, gigs, videos, tunes etc and people can become your "fan".
I also use Myspace. Hell, use them all if you want the best exposure.
Facebook seems to have the largest and fastest growing network and any idiot can use it.
