I like it for the sixteen memory presets. I don't know any other device that beats it in that respect. Some people hate the pads, but I only use them to fire clips, so it's not a big deal.

Enigma, on the other hand, makes me want to shoot myself in the face. I threw the MIDI Learn preset into all sixteen presets and was done with it.

i use it to trigger clips and VJ, otherwise I wouldn't use it for beat programming. i used enigma to completely reprogram the thing too

Own it. use it. love it.

It really depends on what you want to do though. If you are a drummer wanting to approximate "real drum" playing you're better off with something like the Padkontrol. The pads feel much better for that sort of thing.

With the TF you have to hit the center of the pad, With the Pk you can hit the pad anywhere and it responds. Nifty roll buttons and things on that too.

But for banging away beats or firing clips and controlling ableton, I love my TF. Seems made well too which is not that common for M-Audio.

I also love it for the presets. Does the padKontrol have that? The Enigma can be a bit of a headache, but it's A LOT better then programming/editing the TF by itself...

love mine. hate the enigma but its easy to work around with midi learn, or even programming the unit itself with the instruction book.

also you can really mess around with the configuration for aftertouch / velocitys curves / etc.

i think its thinner than the mpd 24. . and theyre 150 bucks! if it breaks on the road you can get one anywhere.

Separate preset for each song makes it a joy to play live, esp when you have 32 pads for each track

That's probably not a problem with the TF - more likely, it's with the rest of your setup/system. For example, that happens to me when I've been going a little VST-crazy and I'm running short of RAM (really need to get me an extra GB one of these days), but a reboot of Live makes the problem go away.

Thanks, I'll give that a go. Come to think of it, I do tend to have lots of instances of stuff like Massive and FM8 active at the same time. I have 2GB Ram though.

great feelin controller. although twice now, for no logical reason it just stops sending MIDI, happened last night. guess ive just gotta wait until it decides to work again!

great feeling, the pressure sensitive pads make up for a very sensitive and subtle general purpose controller, I mean, you can control a bunch of variables simultaniously with just one hand.
But, i never had so many issues with driver stability with any MIDI-device in my whole life. Its not even really compatible with my Radium49 keyboard from the *same* manufacturer. And I swear, the rest of my (WinXP)-system is rock solid
