i used to take a preset and load up effects guitar player style but now i have finally starting to really get in to making my own patches with zebra2 and i have to say its pretty sweet.

sooner or later i'll get a desktop evolver too

The sylenth is the one.

Do you guys neccessarily use more than one synth, or do you have a favorite and use it for everything?

(cause i feel like the sylenth can do basically every sounds I want)

Do you use the presets or do you program it?

I start with presets and than I mihgt tune it or apply audio effects to its channel.

Great synths that are a little further off the path are Ohm Force Symptohm and Virsyn's Virsynth. Also another vote for Reaktor. It is a great package and for the price it still cant be beat.

A slight thread hijack, but has anyone used v-station to create patches for the synth part of an x-station? I understand you can do this, as an x-station is a non-multi-timbral k-station. V-station and k-station patches are compatible.

I love the fat presets in my x-station (once they have been de-tranced with a filter), but I don't like programming. Is the v-station any good as an editor of patches? 27 euros is a bargain.

I don't see why you would prefer to do your patch programming in software with a mouse, and record the sounds from your physical synth. The reverse is more practical - ie, use the knobs on your synth to control the VST, and record the sound from the VST! - I have a K-Station and this is how I work with V-Station.

Incidentally, V-Station is a pretty cool synth.

Software - Sylenth

It's cheap,it don't use much cpu and it sounds amazing.It's great programming your own presets although the factory banks are excellent as are the available sound banks from various others.

Hardware - Virus TI

As above but nearly 14 times as expensive.....
