With an external firewire drive and 2 gigs of RAM, it can do a LOT of tracks

thanks for all your suggestions, but the macbook is more than twice the price and more than twice the weight.

Even though it's much more powerful, it's power that I don't need - I have two much more powerful computers in my studio!
