a girl i used to skate with does a segment on that. you can hear her on the commentary. her brother, bob, wrote the program they used to draw over the video. and her other brother was the one who got me into dj'ing. seriously creative people in that family.

Human Traffic (2000)
best and most realistic party people movie ever. If you're a clubber, you'll like this. If you're not, you won't.
The Boondock Saints (1999)
I somehow missed this until recently. Fantastic, violent, vicious, yet incredibly polished film. Might take over from Reservoir Dogs as my new favorite violent film.

If you can deal with a subtitled film:-
El Orfanato.
Best horror/chiller flick I've seen for a while.

Infernal affairs trilogy - The Departed is as good as a shot for shot remake of the first one (and won an oscar for best director? - I mean, scorcese deserved one, but wtf?)
A tale of two sisters - Dont get scared by films, but this one is really something
Withnail and I - Cult classic, brilliant dialogue, amazing characterisations
Primer - an excellent first film, intelligent and well written, great considering the low budget
Children of Men - Some of the best war sequences since private Ryan
The Machinist - Excellent story, Christian Bale at his best
Pan's Labyrinth - Truly beautiful film, sublime storytelling, don't expect too much fantasy, but appreciate the depth of emotion
Finding Neverland - One of Johnny Depps finest and most understated performances, a stunning bridge between reality and fantasy

Most of the time i am not that keen on remakes of king movies , but anyway.,.,
This one hit me in the stomach..
In the beginning i thought again a cheap movie... but then...
Well see for yourself.

Far out. I have only seen 1 of the movies listed so far = Blade Runner. I must be quite sheltered

Makes me very hesitant to make a suggestion because...well... I don't get out much. My favorite all time movie is The Princes Bride

. Anyone seen The Magician?

just saw this tonight, and must say it was a very good film.
Sensible for Irans cultural and political history, without loosing humour and
the "bite". Great way of drawing btw.
recommendable

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. If you like horror movies, this one is amazing. I forgot how well it just keeps building tension.
The DVD directors commentary is worth listening to, I always thought it was infused with mass amounts of dark humor on purpose.

+ friggin 1 on that. Big horror fan here, and TCM is in my top 10 easily. The slow build tension when the hitchhiker gets into the fan and just starts to get wackier and wackier is incredible. it's easy to forget just how shocking this film was when it was first released. We take that kind of thing for granted now, but back then it was pretty controversial. The interesting thing is that, despite it's reputation, there's very little gore in the thing compared with modern films.
I'm also a big fan of part II. Chop Top is just the coolest. In many ways I prefer it to the first. There's an over-the-top aspect that perfectly suited the times. The little detail of Chop Top using that coat hanger to constantly pick at the broken skin around his skull plate, then eat the little skin bits as snacks. Genius.
Chop Top = "Music is my Liiiiife".

Damn good film.
One of a small handful of milestone films that include:
Psycho
Night of The Living Dead
The Exorcist
The Shining
Each one just BLASTED the parameters of the horror film, & opened new doors into terror.
