Of course. That read wrong, I meat working on your dynamics constantly like a compressor with a high ratio setting but not at limiter level.

Download this: http://www.yohng.com/w1limit.html Put it in your master channel, Set it like that: Threshold=-6.0 Ceiling=-0.2 Release=40ms and you are done.

a threshold of -6 on that plug-in would destroy the dynamics in already mastered tracks - if I was going to use a plug-in like that on full tracks I would have it as strictly just a peak limiter - meaning threshold at 0 or just slightly under like 0-01

but seriously, just turn the tracks down and turn up the speakers - no plug-in is going to magically solve the problem of it just being too loud

one main misconception I see here is that the tracks that come from Beatport should be fine in the first place. This couldn't be father from the actual situation. 60% (just a guess) of the tracks on Beatport are mastered by people who know less about mastering then us all together.

Just put a -6dB Utility on each track, add a limiter on the master and crank up the mixer. You'll rarely hit red this way and you be able to play dynamically.
