Or they could just build in an Editor/Librarian (think Midi quest)
With the basic on screen control parameters (like lives vst parameter view)
user definable/download-able definitions ...
(so you don't have to bloat the overall app size ) you could also release the basic sdk so that ameture & hardware devs might have an easy excuse to sell controller plugins ?

and sysex import export ....or you could just copy image lines dashboard
(hell if they can do it ... )

Push that. Still important. Allthough it will be possible to do that with max for live it should be a standard feature.

+ 1 - Was just about to suggest this. Would be such a useful feature for using my hardware. I've seen a few vst plugins that basically do this - there is one for the Alesis Micron for example (http://download.cnet.com/midiCTRL-Alesi ... 71716.html) - would be great be able to create your own in Ableton though. Anyone know if there's a similar vst for the MicroKorg or Nord Lead?

This is one of the last huge hurdles that I have to completely move myself off of Logic 9. I have a ton of MIDI hardware, but live doesn't give you the ability to control it in any organized fashion. The hyper editor in Logic is fantastic - you can build custom MIDI control groups for each piece of hardware, mapping MIDI CC's or note values to the different control lines.

In Live there is no customization for external MIDI CC's, and the best you can do is a clip envelope in a MIDI track. The problem is that I don't feel like looking through my 25 manuals to figure out which MIDI CC controls cutoff on my Sherman filterbank, or envelope release on my Tetra etc. You need to have some way to just save the controller setups and recall them whenever you are using the device.

Does anyone know of any other plugins or programs that can handle this? I have read a couple posts about Max4Live being able to do some custom programming, but I don't know anything about that.

Thanks!
