aha, Live 8. well, I just got Live 7, haven't even broke it in yet....
Too bad it's not included in an update for 7, it's really a teeny tiny function..
It's not that big of a deal, I ended up making my own channel presets with the midi transpose plugin already on it. But yes, Shift up is an awesome concept, pop up menu's are always a pain the arse.

And, yeah, what's with all the talk of death? And 3Dot still can't count to twelve. LOL.
3Dot: "why can't we all just get along?!"

really?

thanks for the info, but is there no chance of adding this surely very basic feature to the next update of Live 7 ?

hey guys,

Firstly lets just chill :D

I actually miss that from Cubase as well. I seem to remember that you can easily copy midi an octave up or down, which is very handy.

Lives midi manipulation is not great at all and I'm still exasperated by it's lack of midi tools that are stanard and very time saving in other DAW's ie being able to draw in curves etc.

Despite it being very quick and easy for most things there are some incredibly frustrating ommisions in Live that p*ss people off when coming from other DAWs.

So lets be polite to each other eh :D

ok buddy, look here. i know the mouse works, but it's tedious, and pretty inaccurate. especially when your trying to MAKE MUSIC, NOT VIDEO GAMES.
FYI, if your using a mouse to make music, then I'm sure it's real lame. I'm a musician, I play an array of instruments, and mousing around all the time seriously gets in the way of the music production process. Go back to your loops.
you are so right, a faster transpose button should be on every track, when you audition patches you need to switch octaves, and reaching for a pitch plugin every time is a drag.

of course most midi sequencers have that but the abes cannot get midi right

+1, the midi is so weak in live, no editing functions at all

Could we have it so that shift key + arrow left-right selected the previous/next note as well? Would be really, really handy when editing midi.

If a mouse interferes with your workflow and creativity maybe you should try needlepoint instead of music.

Tried selecting/moving notes around using a touch pad on a moving bus/train?

By the way, when it comes to music, I very much prefer editing notes using a midi keyboard. Unfortunately, live has no functionality that allows me to edit already recorded midi that way.

Woah - admittedly I don't spend much time here anymore, but this is the first time I've caught an Ableton representative making any mention of a Live 8. Previous threads (as far as I read them) were all forumites/users speculating.

So if R. Henke knows the details on something as small as this keyboard shortcut, what else can he tell us?? 64-bit support? WaveRT? 128-bit VST parameter limit? MP3 export? Crossfade automation recording in session view? And on and on...

Should I start a new thread? Is there already one going? (Not on pg. 1...)

Why not make presets with the midi pitch?

Looking forward to 8 then. This does seem like quite the oversight. I spend more time plinking around, cursing the midi interface than seems necessary (when composing away from a midi keyboard).

I can already picture the ad campaigns: "Live 8. Shift. Arrow. Less work.
More FLOW."

It's not a good sign when they start holding off tiny little tweaks like this
for the next version.
