Big +1 here. For those of us with hardware synths / equipment, it would _really_ make composing within the daw easier -- especially for rack equipment.

This would make converting files from Reason and Reason Rack VST infinitely easier as well.

I would also love this feature! In particular, it would be helpful to me if:
* MIDI parameters could be renamed individually, and
* Sets of such MIDI parameter name mappings could be saved in templates that could be attached to MIDI tracks
That way, each time I use one of my hardware synths in a new project, all of my past work to set the right parameter names can be re-used on a per-track basis.
