But one thing you should keep in mind, Abes... Serato Scratch Live currently runs like a champ on my old PowerBook G4 with 512 of RAM. It's seriously efficient and awesome that way. I feel no pressure that I have to go out and spend a ton of money on a new computer just to keep up. Just keep that in mind, okay?

For an Ableton freak like myself who honestly felt guilty when I bought a TTM 57 SL last year, like I was cheating on my girlfriend or something, because I wanted to DJ with vinyl and check out Serato... this news is crazy happy!

Integrating software to work with one another is a tad bit different than routing audio signals together.Geezus wrote:I could have swore I could already use serrato with ableton simply by routing serrato output to an ableton audio channel. its not that hard
They're sweet. Decent bass, but I wouldn't mind getting the sub. I also kind of want to get a non-surgical monitoring thing happening. Get a Genelec sub, get a monitor switching station thing (Presonus Monitor Station), hook up a booxbox, and I know this is kind of sacrilegious, but I want a pair of those M-Audio EX66 with the BX10 sub. Just for the gluttony of going from the clean and precise Genelec world - to the in your face thump of the M-Audio thing - to the consumer realm of a boombox. I think it would be fun to make beats on the M-Audios and then pull the mix together with the Genelecs.dcease wrote:nice setup, boob! how are those cute little gennies?
Anyways... I really didn't see this partnership coming. In fact, because Serato went as far as naming their main product Scratch Live - I saw them more as rivals.
My fanboy status has actually increased. I didn't think that was possible. I've been addicted to Pluggo lately, Scratch Live has been my guilty pleasure for over a year, and I'm a dyed in the wool Ableton addict. Life is good. My favorite tools are all partners!

this has inspired to get my technics 1210 fixed. basically the needle will get caught in a groove and keep looping a segment of the record until u move the position. it makes mixing imposible, particularly that it potentially will get stuck randomly....altho it will never make it to the end of the record. n e ideas wat the problem is? ive bought new needles, still doesnt make a difference. wonder if i need a whole new tone arm. gash. but willing to shell out to get ableton and serato together, that wud b siiiiiiiick!!!!
great, another announced partnership.
I don't trust Ableton with these anymore, they're jerking us off AGAIN.
the C74 partnership is 18 months old, this one's another wet dream we'll have to wait years for.
at least it'll give people something to talk about.
as far as the Ableton programming staff I wonder if the same number of programmers are doing Live enhancement (Live
and how many are off working with other companies (C74 and Serato.)
gotta be scratching clips, for real, finally. now all we need is a lightweight USB powered scratching device... ..."and this paddleball... and this lamp... and..."

if not, could be the ball bearings.
and yea, i find it a bit crap that ableton are announcing a new partnership without releasing a single shred of info about the last partnership announcement

I agree with Tone Deft, I think. I'd rather see the fruits of the C74 collaboration before yet another partnership is announced.
I am happy for those users who will get some use out of this, when it actually happens. But as someone who uses Live mainly for - shock horror! - manipulation of audio loops I would prefer to see two things happen more than anything else:
1. Development of the original Live concept - i.e.manipulating audio in a live setting.
2. Optimising the program code and fixing bugs - it's so unsexy, but I wish software developers would concentrate on this more. As programme versions increase, and computers/laptops get more powerful, is it so unreasonable to expect that software would run more efficiently and be more stable?
