The thing is, I've been waiting for a new key/controller for awhile........I mean, I've cannot seem to get "lucky" with a medium midicontroller with good feeling keys (I've felt "up" the 25)

Mines dying...........it's an old keystation 49......I've had it at least two years....and it's well "loved"

I went to two stores this weekend, one being guitar center, and the other a clone. I was impressed that neither were carrying this hardware. Thought I would mention that.

Impressed in that they suck, and it's good they don't have good gear...

Or impressed that they don't carry such junk............

I ordered it. I don't care about the problems, I don't really use mondo-buttons/sliders.......

I bought it because of the way the keys feel. I like the "synthy" but solid feel and I am hoping that when hooked up I'll be able to get some decent velocity feel. Remember, I'm used to a (hack) keystation 49........with certain keys that stick and the fact that it's old and used and ................

So, out of the decent feel keys, size, features, price and expandability, this one hit the mark.

And.....it's musicians friend, which will help me to spread it out over 12 months......and they actually had it in stock! I've been waiting for something that I can order, without paying it all at once, that is in stock........

If I hate it, 45 days to send it back. And I've done that before, so it's really not that painful

Exactly. I did not know what to majke of it. They have everything else. Either they are behind or cuatious. Typically I like to gauge bigger things from smaller things like stores that make easy money selling latest gizmos to suburbanites, but this time I couldn't. So wierd.

Good move on the 37 key model. I am sure you will love it.

Yeah, guitar center here never has anything.........and they are pretty much the only game in town.

They were like "hun"???

Hopefully it will be cool.

Now..........how to justify the apogee when it starts shipping............... 8O 8O 8O

I'm suspicious of your being truthful about the Abes and Novation stating how this does/doesn't work, I say that because I've never seen it NOT work on PCs, faderjumps, loss of settings in the Preferences and bad hardware aside.

Please chill.
Don't be suspicious, ask ableton and novation support yourself! I have nothing to gain by making up crap like this. I am actually suspicous of you saying it works, seeing as Ableton AND Novation support openly admit it doesnt work correctly on PC. You must know something they don't! In what capacity are you saying it is working? do you understand the way I am saying it is not working? (i.e not being able to select a device more than once in ableton PC automap).

Peace baby :)

I've misread posts before, but yeah, I dig what yer sayin'. Automap was released in early February(?), it's almost June with still no updates. 3-4 months since release and no updates. Who knows, I've seen too many unsupported soundcards, software and hardware over the years to trust that ANY company is going to watch my back after they have my money. I've stuck with Live because it works and is fun to use but if nothing else, they NEED TO fix the fader jump problem, it pretty much makes the faders a f-ing joke. They still haven't, all we can do is speculate and hope.

Anymore I find my BCR more user friendly than the SL25, the editing software sucks but no fader jumps and it's easier to edit (cant edit/upload/download automapped presets). Any more the BCR is more musical for me to do remixing on (I'm not a keys player).

USERS UNITE!!! 8) Good contributions to this mess, thanks!!!

When I said in my above post "Ableton AND Novation support openly admit Ableton automap doesnt work correctly on PC" it should clear that they admit this only AFTER you have paid for the SL (or Ableton to use with it I guess). There is no way to find this out BEFORE you buy either of the products as it is implied that it DOES work. I find this practice deceptive at best. Ableton and Novation both need to make it very clear to users that Ableton Pc Automap is currently for Mac only. The fader thing is annoying for sure, but only being able to select a device once in each session is about as useful as their first incarnation of Freeze, where the freeze files were deleted automatically each time you opened the project!

Maybe the abes are just smug Macheads playing mind games with us PC users ;)

I bet you $2999 that is not the case. Automap does not work perfectly on macs either.
I would blame Novation. We're lucky we got this sticky.

It happens all the time, the company says it's "such and suches" fault.......yet..........miracously, the update eventually shows up.

reason was the most recent example. At one point in time they were blaming logic for the rewire issue in macintel. Yet, now, we have logic pro support. Who knew! What, did the "rewire fairy" suddenly swoop down and magically make rewire work with reason/logic pro?? No. The propheads fixed it.

Really quite annoying...........
