what do you mean by we went to war because we "want the oil"? have we taken over iraq's oil fields? cut a sweetheart deal for cheap crude? how are we getting any oil out of this? if we wanted oil from iraq, wouldn't we have just lifted the sanctions? (oil is sold on an open market, so any added oil goes to whoever's buying.) has the war made oil any more available or cheaper?

confused.

we want the oil and strategic geo-political position to launch further conquest in the region. it is a long game and has not entirely gone to plan.

4 million have died in the Congo since 1998. there are planty of places where people needed democracy far more than Iraq. Iraq has oil. The U.S. is trying to overthrow the government of Venezuela. Funny thing, they also have oil.

Likewise, if Islamic fundamentalism were at issue, we would not have invaded Iraq which was a secular nation which has recently been at war with Iran and opposed Osama Bin Laden and his mission. We removed one of the biggest impediments to regionwide ascendency for Islamic government. Iraq was not a Islamic theocracy, now it is or is about to be.

Everyone in the region knows. That is why Russian and the Caspian alliance are holding war games. Everyone knows the U.S. is try to dominate the region and control the resources there. It is a power play.

Massacre is an acquired taste. The United States is arguably the only country on the planet whose national personality and self-image is rooted in centuries of unremitting expansion through race war punctuated by massacre. There have always been "free-fire zones" all along the coveted, ever moving peripheries of white American power, from the "Indian country" surrounding the settler beachheads of Plymouth Rock and Jamestown to the "Sunni Triangle" of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan. Whole peoples - millions - have been erased in the glorious march of American Manifest Destiny...

Are yo high?

You really think the US stands alone with this kind of behavior? there's no excuse for it but it certainly is not an American exclusive behavior thank you very much. Now go read some history on all nations and peoples and see how it is a HUMAN thing and not just a nationality issue.

No, I am not high. I posted an article someone had written as I thought it was of interest.

All nations huh... How many nations have made war in another country as often as the US?

Hmmm. the military of India has never gone outside its own borders. What a novel idea!

Ahh, let's see. There is England. Add their conquests up (including the good old US), Portugal, Spain, China, Russia, Japan, Germany, Romans, Mongols, Prussia, so many tribes in Africa. Hell the "native" of North and South America weren't always so cool to eachother.. Should I keep going? The issue is that of power not of nationality. Every empire has done great crimes against humanity. It is digusting to me but it is the truth. It's unfortunate that your history knowlege only comes from the internet and a book on the 20th century. People have been at it a lot longer than that.

India is no darling either. Look how it has treated it's own people throughout history as well. Yes it has gone outside of it's own "borders" before. How the hell do you think borders are created?

sorry, go here

I'm done with this thread. Its been fun though. Thanks for the personal insults and all that. It must feel quite good when you can attack a person rather than being able to argue the merits of an idea.

But in any case, some of it made me chuckle. I'm not totally without a sense of humor. :)

thanks,

rob.

please continue. It is quite flattering that you think spending your time on eroding my reputation is a valuable use of your life.

You must believe in reincarnation. I hope so anyway, otherwise I feel sorry for you and the time you are wasting on me w/ your one life to live.

chuckle,

rob.

This stuff is funny. Here's the "peace loving persons" quote:

"you shorted sighted clown"

Here's the "war mongers" quote:

"Thanks for the personal insults and all that"

Can you believe that war monger? Man all of us "peaceful" people who "really know what's going on" better all gang up and call the "war monger" names. Then we'll be really peaceful. Maybe if we see him on the street we can kick him in the head while calling him a war monger and then go have a beer and pat ourselves on the back for how smart and "peaceful" we are.

Give me a break.
