This is the whole issue. If your sequencing internal Vsts the timing is sample accurate. If your sequencing external hardware the timing will not be sample accurate.ruprecht wrote:So, keeping MIDI in Live and rendering the audio will give you sample level accuracy.
How does this apply to sending MIDI to a 3rd party VSTi or to Rewire and rendering the audio in Live?
Are either of these considered "leaving Live" in the sense that they could add random latencies?
If your using midi time stamp (live doesnt have it) your still susceptible to your hardwares midi response.
But theres nothing to worry about sequencing external hardware I do it with no problems but I wholly recognise the timing isnt sample accurate so comparing with internal VSts is not valid. The problem with discussions like this is some individuals will read to heavily in to scaremongerers and go to extraordinary lengths to solve a problem that isnt there, I know because I have done this in the past with audio concerns caused by reading forums but specifically latching on to the opinions of the Knotkrankies of the world who write with eloquence so you might give credence to what they say.
HA HA HA
ya, he speaks as if what he's saying is fact - but really its just different pieces of BS he over-heard in a bookies toilet, but didnt really understand. And then he repeats that shit...
its a simple life-skill, pre-fixing the things you say with a simple disclaimer such as "I'm no expert, but couldnt this [problem] be caused by..." etc. and at 45 yrs old, knotkranky probably spent his whole life bullshitting people like this - omitting these little disclaimers, and spinning things like 'ya, thats what I meant'
the fact he thanks robert for saying what mercyplease was trying to spoon feed him the whole time...well, its pathetic. I hope he's lying about his age. good chance of that.

Leave Forge alone.
Don't let the homophobic remarks hit your arse on the way out either.
Seriously over derogatory sexual preference remarks and that was meant to be used as a put down B0unce.... don't deny it.
Firstly it's the height of immaturity.
Secondly us gay and lesbian folk here don't appreciate.
Besides which it was totally uncalled for in general.
Oh well Forge's reaction showed who the better person was here.
Crap like this just puts me off alot of user music forums in general.
If you want to talk like that in your own life and on your own time go right ahead.
Kindly don't bring it into the forum however please.

Free speech.
yes I used the word FAG in a derogatory way.
sue me.
I could have said Chi-Chi Man..but uh, Fag was better.
And not a single soul has taken exception to any one of my many utterations of the word bitch
LOL
Have I opened the floodgates for a 15-pager discussion or no ?
I'd like to tell you in advance I dont give a-fuck about this kind of sensitivity, banning words like bitch or using the word gay to mean something is bad. Like that tv show was gay.
the people who try and make an intellectual debate out of it make me sick, to be honest. Its what I say - if you dont like it, well...tough. I dont care, how come my gay friends arent so uptight about it ? I dunno - I think its a cultural thing more than anything. Americans especially have their head-up their ass on these uber-PC issues. You cant say bitch, you cant say gay to mean less-than-good ...bah, yet my european gay/female friends are throwing the language around casually so I will too.
by the way, its not a crime to be a heterosexual male- is it ?

I refered to "lesbian" folk in my thread for a reason.
Though I suppose using the term bitch is just as common place as fag in your general vernacular.
Personally I don't like either .
If you wish to pander to the lowest common denominator that's fine with me.
I was taught that sarcasm was the lowest form of wit however I hearby stand 100% corrected on that assumption.

I want to thank you bounce for totally freeing me of any need to pay attention to you and I'm being completely fair with you when I say; You're a hater. And I don't give two shits. I know you know that. I also think you might be in love with me. So don't even go there dude. You should not talk about me so much. It's getting creepy. Believe me, you should take better care of yourself.
yes its about the groove/feel/swing more than the timing! my bad misnomer!mercyplease wrote: This discussion was not about feel (but thats is what you rpost heading should haev said) . If thats what you want please add your name to groove Q on in the requests forum. Not that feel isnt a good discussion, I wish this whole thread was about that rather than lives imagined crappy timing.
sorry to be the cause of heated debate among abletonians!
will add my name to the "groove Q" request forum, edit the topic and wish for Ableton happy programming.
mercyplease!!! where do i find "groove Q"???
just to add one obvious but often missed bit of fuel to the firetumbleDry wrote:[

you probably have already considered this but it often gets overlooked
1st: the thing with Live and groove is that you will most likely not have warped the audio clips that have natural groove in them straight to take the groove out, but you kind of have to if you want groove to work properly because the warp markers have to go slap bang on the beat - which of course they wouldnt in a drum break with natural groove in it - so live thinks the beats are where the warp markers are and so if you start mixing midi with audio clips, unless you move the warp markers then they will sound like they are following seperate grooves
2nd: Live 6 now has the option to make clips a master and take the groove from them , meaning you can keep a number of audio clips to use as your groove templates - you can have a top track you just use as your groove track then hide it
and 3rd: Live now has a "stretch notes" function, which means when you right click on selected midi notes in clips and choose "stretch notes" then warp markers appear in the midi clip which you can move around and affect a whole group at once and change the length simultaneously, and if you hold "alt" you can stop them sticking to the grid, and if you hold shift you can move the marker without the note moving as well - so you can get it in a different position and then affect all the clips together -you can do some pretty cool things with that
none of that is what you were asking for but there are some points worth considering

You ridiculous man and not worth an ounce of respect. You want to ignore me!!, the very guy that all along has been trying to tell you how it is. Your reason for ignoring me is because Im right. Do yo urealise how stupid that is.
You were given a test and robert popped in YET you failed to fucking acknowledge one point but you still carried on with your ignorant bastard ways.
Your so full of shit man you may be able to con the clowns in here but your not fooling me for a second. This is not your first forum you have visited and proceeded to red carpet your way, I know your type.
Bounce he is 45 years old. Hes a sad git who gets off hanging around musos who are mostly less experienced than the people at gearslutz or PSW. he wont hang around there because he would be outed in seconds. He probably has been and I must say there is something really familiar about this weirdo. Any time you ever utter shite Krank I wil be there right on it like a fly round shit!!
HA HA HA
thing is when you make posts like this all you do is up the signal to noise ratio and people just wont read your other points - it just becomes a bunch of agro which most people probably arent that interested inmercyplease wrote:knotkranky wrote:I want to thank you bounce for totally freeing me of any need to pay attention to you and I'm being completely fair with you when I say; You're a hater. I read over alot of this thread because I was interested and despite being on the receiving end of many of your rants elsewhere, if you have a point then you have a point, and I'm only really interested in that - what I'm not really interested in is reading through this silly bickering, and I reckon same goes for most people
you keep coming back here so you obviously want something out of this forum, and clearly you are experienced and have some knowledge on these matters - so you will do yourself a much bigger service if you dont bother with this silly personal crap, people will be more interested in whether you have anything worthwhile to add then
who the fuck is this guy knotkrany to you anyway? - some guy on the other side of the world - why would you care that much what he says?
