But I agree, no need for a tool...

I've never had a problem with ctrl-e until recently when I had a couple of days of hitting ctrl-w by mistake.

that's not a fun key to press.

I was not impressed as I did it 3 times in a row, within 5 minutes.

single key commands within Live... I seriously thought it would be in 6, part of the macros feature... maybe we'll see it updated in 6.2 or whatever

If you were chopping up a loop, then you would have to make multiple copies of that loop in order to drag each one into the hit you wanted. That would be tedious.

try it in arrange - select a slice of a clip and drag it straight to impulse/Si/ampler

I do all my chops in the arrange view. Hold alt to copy (if remember right). Select, drag and chop. Ctrl-J to consolidate. Then drag whetevere you want to session or the samplers. It's quick and easy so there's no need for a cubase style scissors tool.

You can also drag selections directly to the samplers (but not back to session for some reason).

Edit: Nevermind, I was misunderstanding. Yes, you can just highlight the part of a loop you want and drag it into Impulse.

That is a great feature of Live, but then one is not really "slicing" the loop.
