Yeah, and atheists are a bundle of laffs. Madalyn Murray O'Hair, anyone?

Atheists are continually making sweeping, unfounded pronouncements. We all know that.

Ironic.
Picking in christians... like shooting fish in a barrel. Best to ignore the haters or pick them apart with short, blunt retorts.

Why did the chicken cross the road?
There is no chicken, it's a delusion set about to control peoples' minds into telling the same joke over and over again without ever getting a laugh.

Yes, I'm quoting my own bad self. Just to add this. Madalyn Murray O'Hair was one of the sourest people I've ever had the displeasure of seeing/hearing on TV. Not surprised to hear that Dawkins comes across that way too. I don' t know what kind of a personal impression Bertrand Russell made, but I'll bet he was a sourpuss too. Why are all these schmucks so bitter and intent on trying to knock the pins of faith out from under regular people? Maybe they're missing something in their lives?

Do you mean as opposed to the long diatribes or childish insults about others' beliefs or goofy-ass jpgs that accomplish so much in the way of leading us all toward mutual understanding and respect?

Lighten up for fucks sake. Isn't Friday where you are too?

Goddamn... I've been awake for 2.5 hours and I've been a total asshole magnet today, what the fuck??

It is striking to go back and read some of the posts, you'd think the end of the world was coming, we do take ourselves too seriously at times.

Right you are.
What's most striking--always--about these kinds of threads is the amount of heat that's generated in proportion to the amount of light. It's about a 1000:1 ratio. If that. The second most striking thing is how much time I spend on them. That's just foolishness, and I need to work at that.

Hope your Friday gets better, TD.

It's actually a remarkably chill thread for the subject matter. Yeah, the ratio of heat to light is pretty low but there has been some genuine discussion. It's also WAAAY to easy to just say "you're stupid, you have no values, you have wrong values, you're stupid." I wouldn't say it's (entirely) foolish, it's good to think about these things and learn about how other people think and why. If you're going to spend time on an interwebernet, might as well be music or theology or porn.

Thanks, my day will get better, I'm gonna run home and make some loud fucking noise while the neighbors are out then come back to work and kick some ass.

Neb - it's every 1,000 pages we give you props, but that's a different delusion altogether. ;)

Yeah, maybe they are, but why do christians automatically jump to the conclusion what's missing is their sky god?

'The god of the gaps', as Dawkins puts it
