The internet is not a tool for freedom as we used to (naively!) assume, but a tool of oppression!

That's pretty shortsighted. Please continue in a another thread. All it makes me think of is all the oppressed people who came together to protest and fight back against their governments thanks to how the internet has made the world a smaller place and opened up their eyes to how limited their human rights are for example.
Besides, life is duality, were you not reminded of that from the Orwell/Huxley cartoon?

But these goverments had no good control over the internet. This is not what can/will happen in the US, China, Russia, Europe etc.
Here they know that you have anti government thoughts, before you do (Because they have ALL your data, cross referenced with the ability to use powerfull data mining algorithms). And it will only get worse!

I would love to take this to another thread, but this is probably considered politics, so we are not allowed to talk about it
