I'm thinking of getting an iPad 2 WITHOUT the 3G and just bumping up my iPhone data plan to the $45 4gig tethering to use the iPad outside of my home WiFi.

I'm leaning in this direction as well. Muhhahahahahah. :x

Steve Jobs will soon find out that it's not the Year Of The Ipad 2.
2011 is THE YEAR OF THE LOUNGE.

And yes. THE YEAR OF THE LOUNGE.

Man. We should get t-shirts made, stat.

I've missed you to, broham.

AT&T = No.
Verizon = Yes.

Alright, you fuckwits actually have me contemplating getting an iPad 2 sans the 3g. Not because I really want one and not because I have some overly complicated Inception type plan thinking I can control Live using a iPhone hotspot and a little frontier magic, but because when I die minus a wife or kids (looks like where I am heading) at least I'll have a member present from every stage of the iPad family. And as no family is perfect, the wifi only model will represent the gimpy down syndrome member of the clan. :|

I sat and weighed all my options, and to pay an extra what? $150 for a 3g version PLUS getting another damn data plan on top?
I think the TETHERING makes more sense.
Hell, I might even charge a fee to my coworkers to use my iPhone as a hotspot for a few minutes! That's legal right?
I'm not completely convinced by the math on that. I think to add tethering/hotspot an an existing plan it's another $20-$25(?) per month AND you are locked into that for the duration of your contract. On a 3G equipped iPad it's $25 per month BUT you can cancel it at any time and sign back up if you need to. So maybe you need it for 1 month, cancel it, and you find out you never need to use it again for the next 6 months at which point you just sign up for another month, and you didn't pay for any of the 6 months you didn't need it. I heard in parts of Europe they even have a daily plan.

But it all comes down to people's common use and what works for them.

And I'd definitely check with AT&T on the tethering drop out during calls. AT&T is GSM; which is supposed to handle both at the same time. Verizon is CDMA; which is not supposed to handle both at the same time. But, until you get official word from AT&T all bets are off. :x

Oops, we must stay within the topic. Back to the iPad.

Hmm. When U-verse gets mentioned it leads me to believe it's no one from Europe because I don't think that service name means anything there; and it's not like U-verse is a worldwide household name like Apple or Ableton.

Or it could be somebody from Europe because they pretty much all spend at least 35% of their day obsessing about all things U.S.A.

I’m still seeing rampant opinion reporting from people of all walks of life thinking that anything above a 16 GB drive is unnecessarily big and not worth the purchase price. :x

Who are these assholes who either

A). Have media a library that consists entirely of the Kings of Leon discography and the last seasons of The Office and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Or

B). Like to pack their digital lunch every morning predicting what mood they hope to be in later.

:?:

Scenario: A bowling ball sized asteroid is heading straight for your house. May not sound that big but anything that size coming from space can take out a city block. You only have time to grab one thing. What do you grab? You’re 16 GB iPhone because it can make calls. Out just in time everything else you own is destroyed and lost.

Bet you wish your iPhone was more than 16 GB now, don’t you asshole?!?!? :x :x
