Duh...and there was me whining about no London User Group...LOL.

OK, it would be cool to get this up and running, did Martin the MindLobster come through?

If not, who is up for a meet to discuss next steps etc.? Somewhere central? I think away from Hidden Away because thats about the music, maybe a quietish bar somewhere so we can actually discuss (as well as drink?).

Long and short of it is we nee to find somewhere for regular meets that has a mixer and PA so we can arrange some demos, laptop 2 laptop stuff, I'm sure we can persuade Timothy Allen to come down and do some stuff, Forge is up for it too. Will be good to get this moving...

thoughts?

the orwell down essex road where we met before? not massively central but they seemed quite keen and they had a reasonable pa. free too (i think)

maybe somewhere with a projector or something as well though?

thats just an idea off the top of my head

was a total PITA to get to though with a backpack full of laptop, controller etc...guess that's why it's free!

Think I might know just the place...Sway Bar in Holborn, have done a gig there. Nice and central for all coming from either West or East as is on the Central Line and on the Picaddilly and easy exchange from northern line for those coming from South or North. 5 mins walk from Holborn tube. They have a large area with PA and projector that we can use. Would have to sound them out on cost though....not sure it would be free, but maybe if we're buying beers...

Shall i check it oot? See if I can get a date?

I know a few central venues that would be up for us putting nights on (without charging us for venue hire) but who'd be less likely to let us use their PA for a meeting (unless it was very well attended, I guess...)

But, after a few false starts, and having chatted to Martin (mindlobster) about this a while back, count me in...

Robb, whats the latest with Martin, is he still keen to be the pres? Can we get him along if we set up a meet?

I'll give him a shout as it's been a whie since I've spoken to him. But it seemed that anyone approaching Ableton regarding an "official" UK usergroup was directed to Martin (i.e. if Martin was involved it could be "official", but otherwise it wouldn't be...)

Of course, I may have got the wrong end of the stick. Or even the wrong stick.

Will post back when I hear back...

Heya,

I've been talking to Martin & Ulrich from Abe and they seem serious about getting something to happen. Martin was doing a tour of the Apple stores demoing Live 8 so I think that took him out for a bit.

Martin seems to have something brewing or that's the feeling that I get from the communications I'm getting. Seems like he's talked to a few of us so that's good that means there's some momentum and it could end up happening.

It would be good to get a semi-regular meet happening.

Ciao
