L8 looks to rock the DAW world !!! Can't wait any longer !!!!
I'm afraid that L8 may be logic 8 in my case, as I'm getting more frustrated every time I regularly have to re-assemble all my girlfriends and friends Sonar and Cubase songs in ableton, when if it supported OMFs I'd be laughing. :/
If it did OMFs I'd have bought it already, but since it doesn't I'm waiting a few months and having a think about if I can really justify it. Group tracks and the better warp engine with transient points look helpful though. £180 for the Suite 7 to 8 upgrade doesn't look that great when compared to the full Logic Studio 8 currenly being at £310 with all of it's completely new (to me) AU plug-ins, quality FX, samples, loops and the sample editor.
So sure, it's cool, but slightly underwhelming for what I get for my £180 hard cash. I guess it depends what you were needing; last time I happily shelled out the cash as the time signature changes turned it from a kinda cool thing I sometimes used, to something I could use for all my stuff.

i still think that live it's not loud enough
i mean yeah.. i can put a compressor or limiter on my master channel, but that is not the point
because when i'm djing with live and a switch to traktor for whatever reason the difference is really noticeable
please fix this!!!!
my two cents...

I'd like to see very much:
- cusotomable hot keys for everything (a-la Photoshop), including show/hide VST plugins (I would put them on F1-F12)
- 2 monitor support, but much better a modular interface where you can put an andvanced midi editing window (or any other live window) under session / clip view icons and other stuff over there (so you can have a full big window of everything you want (still being able to switch them all with tab would be cool), not a tiny (expandable with mouse dragging but that's not always very friendly) window at the bottom. I'd like to have lot's of such windows where I could store - midi editing windows, step sequencer windows, notation window and etc
- notation
- a BIG midi editor update
- other DAW improvements (not fx)
- much better VST support, not that damn wrapper anymore
- 64 bit support
That would do me buying Live 9
The current Live update in my eyes gives some misc changes, that all could have been implimented in Live 7.1 - 7.2. I don't feel Live 8 like a drastic update. More a cosmetic patch, yes a nice one, but could have been a free one easily. I am not talking about new fx, suite instruments, operator etc - only about Live Core as a DAW.

+1 I don't own Operator nor will I ever. A dedicated guitar tuning Plugin is a MUST!

A decent metronome. Seriously. Worst metronome of any DAW I've ever used.

Hi,
Only jumping in to say: it's now available in the context menu of the Metronome.
Best regards,

yeah and make that for each vst! that is my last personal gripe with the program. I have an abundance of controllers, use always the same mappings (same knobs on same synth parameters) and I can't believe that each time I load silent1 I have to remap everything again every time.

so change it.
no automation recording in session view. me thinks they painted themselves into a corner with that one.

I know about the work around, but Live is supposed to be uncomplicated and user friendly. The work around is actually more complicated than setting up an arpeggiator in Logic, which is the example most people give of Logics clunky UI. Every other DAW has a window where you can assign emphasis values and different sounds to the metronome, not Live.
For people unfamiliar with this, you can open Live up and replace the metronome sounds with something else if you want. It involves delving into Live's files though, and isn't what I call more than a hack.
re: automation in Session View, I don't think we'll see that outside some clever Max for Live patch. There's definitely a deep code reason that one hasn't been implemented as it's the #1 requested feature.
re: multiple windows, I would love it, but Ableton are obviously against it, again, a Max Patch
could possibly at least allow a piano roll editor on another screen?? maybe??

that's beyond lazy.

it takes more effort to whine about it than it is to change the sounds.
