it does since at least v.7

tempo sync... i guess you can sync it as well as two turntables. arguably better, as you can enter tempos which are precise to at least 2 decimal places

memory... it can only use 3g I think. not hard to put 8g in a computer these days

?

Something needs to be done about Racks.

First, they need more than 8 macros. Also, they need buttons.

And now with Max for Live, Max can not access any parameters within a rack currently. This is a huge deterrent to using Racks.

Group tracks could also use some improvements and could be a great alternative to racks for many purposes. It would be very nice to be able to group within groups, name group clips, and also record arm a group track to record enable all tracks within the group.

Oh and a stretch mode for sampler, where changing the pitch of a sample does not change duration. I've been requesting that since Live 6 though. Not holding out much hope. Impulse can do it for crying out loud, as can clips. But not "sampler". ok.

yeah I would live to see some kind of macro device that could be placed on a group track and mapped to anything in the group track - like "track racks" - Not sure if something like that could be rigged up in M4L but even if it can it's well beyond my abilities at the moment

It can be done and it's part of the reason I bought Max for Live. I have a device in mind o build, part of which is exactly that. But I have a lot of learning to do first. I'm pretty sure there are things like that floating around already actually.

I would LOVE to see and control more than one track (of different channels) at once. In a traktor way...

I nailed the looks and the functionality so far. The manual is 75% written.
Hopefully I'll have it up by wednesday.
For those who missed our earlier conversations, this device is my piece de resistance as far as Controlling Live goes. I can map 8 buttons + 8 knobs from any device to any clip. Triggering the assigned clip jumps the macros to the ones you want.

I've kept the patching relatively clean, it'll still require some more comments but there are enough fun pieces to take apart. It should be of some help for the patches you guys want. And in Forge's case all it needs is for some features to be removed :)

Heff2k justifying my love. :D

I checked out an LFO m4L patch, it couldn't see effects on the sends, does this one?

what I'd like to see...
time view in Session Mode Clip View, bring it back!!!

midi assign follow actions. what a tease! we can midi assign so many things, not those. could be a great way to set and unset ALL actions at once.

more than one midi channel out of a track. m4L will be more fun that way.

stop locking all of Live's VSTs to Clip View.

overhaul Beat Repeat and Reverb.

automation recording in Session view, that's a given.

give us the AAS presets that went with Analog, Electric and Tension. they were MUCH better than the ones Ableton gives us. I'm forgetting other improvements I'd like to see.

Yes, all audio/midi/return tracks and the master track are included.
The only downside is we cant access devices within Racks (yet).

i would be very curious to know out of all the features people would like, how many could be made by ourselves in max4live, and how many require ableton to impliment them.

would any of you max/m4l users be willing to scan through the thread and do a list with a definiative yes or no on whether we could do it our selves?

im warming to the idea of max, but still struggling to get a firm understanding of what it is and isnt capable of.

Midi over IP

All Ableton has to do is improve the API interaction. Anything beyond that can be implemented by ourselves. If you want to know more you're going to have to be very specific.
