4. max/msp has been around for a long time, that community didn't see a need to pay for patches, they just share them.
sharing is not a one way road.. within the live "comunity" it will be.
so a shop is a good idea to keep things straight. there is no comunity here ..its all about money making.. why shouldnt the patch creators be the only ones that dont participate in this? they won´t have the time to do records or livegigs when they patch all day..
And doing something serious with max is patching all day..

Wouldn't of it been nicer to just say that you disagree?
I also clearly stated that the patches could be free too. It is just a database of patches afterall.

We don't need any more
records and we don't need any more
live gigs, which is really just a euphemism for button pushing in front of palefaced vapids. Anyway, it is not a far fetched concept that one could learn enough of max/msp to make it unique and useful for themselves, and possibly a few others, while still finding the time to wank on their gits or play their trombones or
make records. Besides: the geek will prevail; hipsters be damned.

I had a blast yesterday tweaking on patches, going through them, seeing how they work. yes, I even made some music with them. buffer shuffler is sweet, the drum machines have outstanding boom to them.

This could seem like a mildly impressive show of wit if it weren't for the fact that you clearly have no idea who the majority of Max users are.
The Max user base has traditionally been and continues to be comprised primarily of people coming from conservatory and music school backgrounds. What this means is that the people using Max are musicians. They can read music, perform/compose in multiple styles, and usually have an historical, theoretical, and practical knowledge of music that is not limited to popular music (but not necessarily exclusive of it either). Many Max users are composition students who have probably never programmed anything outside of an alarm clock.

Your bum-chum acting like an autistic 5yr old on a forum has made your weekend ? And I'm the geek ?
The highlight of
my weekend, thus far, has been getting an early-morning handjob in a jacuzzi off a Portuguese air hostess.
The view across the bay was spectacular.

You say this now, but I'll bet you dollars to donuts you're going to be putting on your pocket pen protectors in no time and diving in with the rest of us Max n00bs.

awwww, bless.
You're a fucking roar, I LOVE TD! Me and the family gather round to read your posts, sometimes recounting them at social gatherings, holding them up as shining examples of the type of pointless geek debatery that goes on on internet forums.
'tweaking patches, seeing how they work'. Hilarious stuff!
'even making music with them', come on now....that's taking it too far.
Thanks man!
MORE!

Wish i had the time, but as i said, if it was free and I had an easy place to go to get your inventions, then i'd be in like flynn. Otherwise....no. Have you been to the MAX forums?
A scary mirror on the dark recesses of sweaty bedroom programmers gathering for a virtual reacharound. scary stuff.
