Ethics IMO simply do not have anything to do with what you 'say' you believe in, it's how you act, and what you do when I'm vulnerable. When money is on the table do you divide it up fairly when no one is looking? In my experience, religion has ZERO to do with true ethics one way or the other...

Funny thing is, if these people REALLY thought about it... they would realize that by their definition this is idolatry. I'd tend to agree more with the insurance company than all the extra passes the collection plate will be making to rectify this with a new erection.

no he didnt. he rested. because even when you can create the universe in less than a week with no overtime, and even though you are the all powerful all seeing god, you need some time off. its a tough gig.

it really took it out of the big guy. i mean hes only had time kick back to ask abraham to kill his son and post a couple of stone tablets to moses [twice, btw because he didnt do a great job of the first set and moses broke them] and of course he was still tired so he couldnt write anything on them so he dictated to moses. oh and dont forget torching a few bushes.

the guy needs a holiday. i know the guy hasnt been taking many calls of late [particulary on 9/11 or the first time new orleans got spanked] and definately not since moses had his direct number and that was waaay to much hassle.

My guess is that you stopped caring about religion so long ago that you havent payed much attention to what people believe outside the mainstream. Mainstream religion doesnt define actual personal belief any more than pop music defines music as a whole. Theres millions of people out their forming their own beliefs everyday, not saying a damn thing so they dont "step on anyones toes" since everyone is so damn touchy these days. Any mention of belief and you are "cramming it down on everyones throat", any mention or display of religion and its like you just shoved an issue of the watchtower straight up someones ass. So most of us keep our damn mouths shut, repressing our true thoughts so we dont have to hear you all whine and moan about it.

Then you have the droves of blind faith morons out there representing the whole to a bunch of equally stupid egomaniacs who have been brainwashed to beleive that every religious person must be fucking their kids up the ass in the name of God. Have fun, the rest of us will just be on the sidelines shaking our heads.

I find it interesting that you find it necessary to make it so concrete, in a way that mimics the progression of religion we have today. Some people just need things that solidified in order to get a proper hold on it. So they come up with guidelines and ideas in order to more clearly draw the path….and of course not everyone’s going to agree with how they are drawn. However there is no way to perfectly outline a metaphysical concept with physical means, it needs to be experienced on another level. Those guidelines might just help get you started in the right direction to reach that experience, but they aren’t brick walls.

Anyway, your dad's view is refreshing and I get the point but it really differs from any religion I have ever heard of. Some kind of free interpretation. It doesn't remind me of any of the mainstream religions I am aware of or their teachings. Hence, perhaps you are inventing a new religion, a new christianity, one where you ignore the bible as being the world of god and just do what you feel is right.

That's fine with me.

My only questiojn being: Why bother with the god. You can do that without one.
