i went to see it on monday. i thought it was ok, looked very good but the 3d didnt really add much. some bits were quite confusing and didnt really make sense.

and i dont care how far in the future you are - if you give yourself a massive invasive caesarian section thing you arent going running around anywhere ten minutes later

some parts just got laughed at by the audience

all in all though - i thought it was reasonable sci fi bank holiday blockbuster mush

i really like the first one and i remember being absolutely thrilled by the second when i saw it at the cinema back in the day - though ive seen it more recently on the tv and some of it looks pretty dated, especially the 80's haircuts :)

Was it just me or did Guy Pearce base his portrayal of Weyland on David Attenborough?

I'd like david Attenborough to VO the creature scenes.

What has happened? Visually it's perfect, but where's the story, the plot, the suspense?!
It seems that all that advanced technology (3D and CGI...) is absolutely irrelevant to achieved effect.
I'm disappointed as hell...
I dont feel quite as strongly, but yeah to what you said....

Cheers

I think there's the films negative points and then there's the (understandable) emotional back lash. I think the final judgement of this won't have it anywhere near a Phantom Menace or a Crystal Skull.

But it didn't suck as hard as the man-bears did.

So do I go 3D IMAX, or normal theater?

I couldn't stop thinking of Eddie Murphy's "Old Jewish Guy" from Coming To America every time Guy Pearce was on screen.

I just saw it and fucking loved it. Were there some muddling plot points? Sure. Who gives a fuck. I don't think they were that significant at all...certainly not enough to destroy my viewing experience. That recent Star Trek reboot....that sets the standard as far as I'm concerned for gaping nonsensical plotpoints so....this is a scifi masterpiece by comparison.

Up and around 10 seconds after surgery? meh, whatever. Yeah, it's silly. But thankfully not as silly as explaining time travel via a journey through a black hole. omfg. At this point every 12 year old on the planet in basic science class knows that black holes are something you....er.....don't survive.

Also totally disagree about the 3D. I usually fucking HATE 3D but found it incredible in this film. It was fairly subtle.

meh. I keep thinking back to the shitfest that was Avatar as well...where you've got such pedestrian stereotypical caricatures that were nothing short of insulting. Were the characters and their motivations slightly muddled and unexplained in Prometheus? Perhaps. But I'll take that over force fed Cameron eco-friendly space movie horseshit any day of the week.

:x

Your 6 month long thread has at last had a payoff Loopy.

Glad you relaxed and enjoyed it despite how much you had invested in it.
