Make sure you're searching all locations - most Brow sounds are Collision patches.

But let's not derail here!

beatsme: you seem to be on top of all these releases, so do you have any thoughts on how this "Exhale" library compares to Heavyocity's recent Gravity pack (Vocalise)?

I love vocals/vocal effects/choirs, and Vocalise caught my attention, but I remember thinking it covered the same ground as an Alchemy library I own (Dream Voices), so I skipped it this round.

I got Vocalise (half the price of Exhale and I think I also got $20 off). As to be expected from Heavyocity it’s very soundtrack oriented and ambient. From what I heard on the Exhale videos it’s a lot more in your face with the vocals. The general videos showcase some pretty cool sounds (choosing the best presets?) but when you get into the tutorial videos it sounds a lot more telltale sample based and the vowel sample chooser sound very unnatural and choppy to my ears. You’d probably be better off with a mid to high end choir library.

Went on a bit of a discount buying spree

Live 9 Suite upgrade from 8 Suite, didn’t have M4L – I’m back, bitches

Sound Toys bundle – never owned any of their plugs before

Waves Gold bundle – never owned any of their plugs before, further discount for the bundle after I submitted for the free plug from $199 to $169.

Tina Guo Cello Legato Kontakt library – for those epically sad and realistic cello melodies, a start to the small fortune I’m going to have to drop on symphonic scoring libraries I’ll never get around to using.

I still have a week to decide on taking advantage of the NI 50% off on Maschine expansion packs offer.

I’m going to be like Chevy Chase on Christmas Vacation if my work doesn’t give out Christmas bonuses this year. :x

I skipped the last 4 latest expansion packs because I thought they sounded redundant and/or I forgot about them. But getting all of them for $75, 50% off plus a $25 voucher I have laying around sounds like a really sweet deal.

In fact I put them all in my cart and then left for the holidays and NI sent me a “Hey, we noticed you filled your cart, but then didn’t purchase. Please let us know what’s up!” email.

I have most of their expansion packs aside from some of the really early ones. I usually take advantage of some discount or voucher on those. Of course this completely cuts me off from their annual 9 for $99 deal because I already own most of what are in those.

And of course NI didn’t offer a discount on the plugs/libraries I’d actually be interested in, Reaktor upgrade and their new “will never be a part of Komplete” symphonic ensemble libraries. :x

I can't understand how you're able to utilise those NI vouchers. In my experience, they're always timed so that they expire just before they're actually useful. I got one when I upgraded to KU this summer (hello-oo? Ultimate means I should be pretty much sorted). But, look: here's a nifty library that won't make its way into Komplete: we're going to release it ten minutes after all vouchers issued during the upgrade bonanza have expired.

Ah, well, I didn't need that orchestral brass library anyway.

I’ve been able to use vouchers well after they’ve supposedly expired. Just put in the code and see what happens.

Ditto. I forgot about some for almost a year inbetween Maschine purchases and they still worked.

You will not regret this, I haven't learned anything about them yet, but putting them on a synth you previously spent hours getting the sound you want out of but still not being satisfied, running through the presets and instant "pro" sound. I got Sound Toys 5 about a month ago for $175 off of some guy on KVR'S marketplace, and all I could think was why on earth would you sell them? I still haven't even opened half of them. The only downside is the GUI's are all 2003, definitely erring on the side of Skeuomorph VS usability, so Tarekith would't enjoy them, or at least have mixed feelings since they sound amazing.

+1 on Halcyon Sky. Most of my expansions are good but not great, that one is great.

I watched the tuts on the plugs on my groove3 subscription yesterday. Can’t wait to slap them on stuff.

There were some real curveballs on my holiday discount buying this year. Some things I thought I would buy for sure and then decided not to, and then some I pulled the trigger on that weren’t even really on my radar until a couple days ago. It mostly came down to discount offered and how much use I think I would really get out them.

I initially thought I would jump on some of the Heavyocity discounts but then realized I’m really not in the market for even more of their brand of percussion. I’d sooner get use out of a redundant Maschine Hip Hop expansion pack and for a lot less money.

I hear you, upgrading to Komplete Ultimate made me realize my lust for Heavyocity stuff was for nothing. I'm too much of a control freak for their brand of 'amazing out of the box' sound, they apply too long reverbs and room ambience on their samples themselves so you're really stuck with their sound on their libraries, which I don't get into as much unless it's an orchestra library.

I almost jumped on Push 2, but I'm seriously thinking about getting a Slate Raven MTi 2 instead. in the end it's only slightly more, a 27" touchscreen that I can use with DP9 as well, and for me anyway I don't see anything in Push 2 that's geared towards playing live VS Push 1. I basically got Push 1 on a lark instead of Launchpad Pro because someone sold it to me for the same price so...

The Soundtoys plug ins are definitely amazing sounding, though I tend to not enjoy them more because they require an iLok versus the display.

F iLoks! :)

Honestly that is the main thing that has kept me away from Sound Toys and Waves plugs all these years.

Sound Toys now only requires you have an iLok account to authorize but you don't need the dongle.

Waves now just requires a retired secret service agent to stand by your monitor during a session and glare suspiciously at your screen whenever you open a plugin until they get visual confirmation it's not a cracked Waves plug. He's kind of annoying and a total workflow buzzkill but at least he's not an iLok dongle! :) He still requires an available USB port though. :x
