the first replacement had a dodgy pitch bender and 5 of the 8 pads worked in reverse. they reckoned they had recalled all the uk ones and had them repaired ... obviously not.

novation rep was a bit of a dick when i first spoke to him, after i had explained the faults to their tech guy the rep was as nice as pie, and was either gonna give me the next model up or the gigbag and software, v station, guru light, bfd (cant remember if he said that was light, is there a light version?)

shit man id have just taken the vstation :p
shit man id just like a working unit!

Anyone considering buying the SL25 might want to check this out:

http://www.soundcontrol.co.uk/

Click the hardware submenu followed by controllers underneath and check out second from the top.

Daim! 8O I was going to take my lousy SL25 back and swap it for the xstation but decided to hold on to it

Are these bugs and problems acceptable with a £300 controller? I don't think so!

I'm past the 14 day return policy with mine but they know me at my local sound control. Maybe the'll be nice to me and let me swap it for a nice new (working!)x-station :D Maybe not but i am a good customer and thats gotta count for something, right?

All i'm saying is i've got better things to do than spend that amount of money on something and spend days or weeks waiting for a possible solution. It's totally unacceptable. B*ll*cks!

I dunno, Pandamonium and myself are in a standoff as to whether or not there is a bug that limits you to selecting only 1 device per session. I'll try it again tonight, I know for sure it's worked before, maybe an update broke it.

To me the only bug is the fader jump bug. I would also like to edit the automapped stuff. Lastly I wish they'd stop marketing this thing as having HUGE LCD screens. Your laptop is a HUGE LCD screen.

I'm actually rediscovering my BCR again, I have SOOOO much fun mixing with it!!

I'm suspicious of your being truthful about the Abes and Novation stating how this does/doesn't work, I say that because I've never seen it NOT work on PCs, faderjumps, loss of settings in the Preferences and bad hardware aside.
Don't be suspicious, ask ableton and novation support yourself! I have nothing to gain by making up crap like this. I am actually suspicous of you saying it works, seeing as Ableton AND Novation support openly admit it doesnt work correctly on PC.
I'm at home <finally>, opened Live with my SL25 on
Impulse is automapped, Simpler, Arpegiator, chord, pitch, random, scale, velocity, auto filter, auto pan, beat repeat, chorus, compressor I, compressor II, EQ 3, EQ4, Erosion, Filter Delay, Flanger, Gate, Grain Delay, Phaser, Ping Pong Delay, Redux, Resonator, Reverb, Saturator, Simple Delay, Utility, Vinyl Distortion

I have all these pluggos in one project and I can automap from one to the other without problems.

They also work on my 2 year old Dell P4 2GHz desktop w/Win XP Pro

Is there anything I can check out to possibly help you?

Sure, I can do the same, BUT Try clicking on say.. Impulse, then Say operator, so far so good right? NOW try to get Impulse automapped back in the same session after you have clicked on a different device ;)

I'm betting you can't, also betting you didn't read/understand my original post. You can only automap each device once in each session, once you
have clicked on another device and it automaps you can't automap any previous ones you have clicked on, kinda makes automap useless to me.

Anyways, if you can get it to work, get in touch with Ableton and Novation, cuz they can't!

Nope, going back and forth between pluggos works.

Weird, Not saying I don't believe you, but I can't, Ableton Can't and Novation can't get it to work and are both currently working to fix it, would be great if you can get in touch with them, maybe it's some combination of hardware/service pack tomfoolery that you are using and it will help them pinpoint the problem.

Or maybe it's SL 37 specific, dunno, but weird!

Hey, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this question. I've posted it up a coupla times before but no luck so far. I am looking at replacing my Remote25 with a SL.

If I was to assign the SL's buttons to trigger Scenes in Live (using MIDI notes) and I programmed abbreviated Scene names into the LCD display for each button... could the display be made to show me WHICH Scene was the currently playing Scene? That is, show a change in display status when that button is pushed?

On my old TS-12 workstation, I could have the currently playing pattern underlined a la:

INTRO VERSE CHORUS

then:

INTRO VERSE CHORUS

then:

INTRO VERSE CHORUS

etc.

I currently use cardboard overlays on my ReMote25 which tell me where my Scenes are, but not where I am in the arrangement.

Is there anything I can do (get a dot to light up?/change a displayed note-velocity value?/anything?) to show that that button has been pushed and, therefore, that scene is the one currently playing.

Thanks in advance,
paddy

It's possible you're hitting the 'lock' button and not realising it. If the red light in the upper right corner of the box is lit, then hit the button next to it to turn it off. When you hit that button, automap stays locked to whatever plug-in you're using, regardless of where you go next. The problem pando's having isn't this.

The display shows the track names, and track names only. Just look at the computer screen, it's bigger than the HUGE LCD screens anyway. It's still 'checking e-mail' but I couldn't see not wanting to check the monitor being a show stopper, easy workaround.

Don't know if you knew that there are buttons hard coded into the SL to scroll up/down through scenes and start/stop them. It's the buttons along the left edge of the device.

Mac User no automap functionality AT ALL

I'm running:

Powerbook G4 PowerPC 1ghz 1gb RAM
OSX.4.6

SL25 1.0.13 and 'automap' v5 download from novation

The old Live-1 and Live-2 are still there, but the 'Live Automap' is blank...does nothing.

I had trouble even with the old Live-1/Live-2 version.

Any Apple users??

peace

Any one utilizing the MIDI interface on their SL?

I 've got an unresolved/ignored issue. Its prolly just a general midi question.

I'm accepting tempo on port M1 on the SL from my DR-670(drum machine). The tempo leaves the SL on Ua.

The tempo on the 670 is set to 176; Live recognizes it as 352.
It doubles.

I might be resending the tempo on M1 Out (I set the triggerpads on the SL to trigger the drum sounds in the 670) although I don't think so. But if I was would it matter?

I think there is some kind of midi law that would justify the problem but I'm not sure where I got that notion from.

Anyone else ever experience tempo x2 when accepting midi from peripheral devices?
