Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
Hermanus, I greatly appreciate your help! The information you provided seemed to have done the trick.
I think it all had to do with the config file.
I cleaned the slate, when through all of the instructions step by step and it all seems to work now.
The setting in the Monomulator never seem to stay like they said it would in the set up video, but I can live with making those settings every time.
Thanks for everything.

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
If you set with midi yoke and usb for apc i/o it'll stay till the next time you launch monomulator.
shit happens when you got several usb devices [on windows, on mac no problem]
I had once the midiyoke channels too.
Indeed the cfg file is hugely important.
If you change some values in it, the best is to rescan the vst folder in Live, for molar efficiency.
If you preview to use fxp files, don't ever forget to create a folder named Molar within your molar40h.dll vst folder.
Fxp are great because they save the patterns you could have created (max of 8patterns -1row)+ the sounds used.
Let say you saved a first fxp and without touching at the patterns, you decide just changing some sounds.
i.e another drumloop or bassline.
Just save it as another fxp, once you load the first and the second, you will be happy to see it has saved every modifications.
in this case, it changes sounds_ very useful as for pattern modif
cheers

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
the rows of: "stop clips", "select track" an "mute track" still behave "buggy". the lights don't refresh. i also activated live osc
(don't be sure if this could help) but it doesn't change anything.
one thing more: if i want to enable/disable one of the arm-track buttons in track 6, 7, or 8 the connection between the "monome application" and your monomulator
breaks down. sometimes it helps (the connection comes again) if i'm going to the monomulator and re-enter the osc prefix. does someone of you have same problems??
this is what i'm experiencing, and it's extremely frustrating. it's so close to being perfect for me but i can't take it on stage with those two issues. please, oh please trackteam won't you give it a look?
grrreat work!

UGH
I got it all set up, and now no sound... I can switch to the keyboard, the faders, but when i open up molar, nothing is happening. I am stuck here. it wont take any of my wav files, cannot record to it, no sounds or effects whatsoever. I hope someone can help.
OSX.6 Live 8.1, APC40,
molar is vst only right, thats how i have it in my plugins.

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
I finally got my copy of Monomulator emulating the Monome! Hopefully this will help at least a few of the other numbies out there that may not of caught this.
In the instructions that came with Monomulator down at the very bottom there is a sentence that says: "This app uses OSC-route by CNMAT at Berkeley. It is included with this download. I can't find a license for these objects."
What this means in nubie speak is that you have to place a copy of OSC-route.mxo (included in download) into the following folder (Mac): Applications/Max5/Cycling'74/max-externals/
I hope this helps someone.

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
So does anyone know how to port Monomulator into M4L so that I don't have to load the patch in Runtime every time before I start Ableton?
It would be really nice if I could build a M4L patch, save it in my Default project and have it auto load every time I open Ableton.
Thoughts?

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
Wow, thanks so much! I've had a luck with loopbe30 on win7, worked with molar and seven up live 2.0 fairly well. I noticed a few stuck leds during "monome" mode with both apps, but otherwise it seemed functional (I have no experience with an actual monome). It's really wonderful to see you opening up apc40 owners like me to the world of monome apps! Some amazing stuff out there! Tried to use stretta's m4l monome suite, but no luck there. Doesn't seem to detect the apc40 as a monome (It uses some auto detection stuff to give control to the monome over the current device in focus). Some really neat stuff in the monome suite, i'd like to see it working
A hopefully simple request!
Is there anyway to setup an option to bind to multiple osc prefixes/ports so that you can control multiple monome apps simultaneously, perhaps with different "pages" for each app? some custom pages/views/presets for adding additional midi control would be awesome too. (maybe jump between control schemes using shift+track selection buttons (instead of pan/send so you'd have 8 possible views, or even use the clip control views for more...) so that you can have the normal apc40 functionality tied to one view, additional monome view to another botton (or more depending on how many OSC prefexies you have it set to bind to), slider view to another, additional pages/views for additional midi functionality (duplicate copies of clip view buttons/faders/pots so we can bind them to separate functions or create custom control layouts!)
Yikes that would turn the apc40 into a real powerhouse...I know you can do some of this with bome's midi translator, but i thought since you already have some sort of pagination setup with monomulator it'd make sense to extend it a bit (also bome pro is $80! ouch!).
bugwise i've also noticed triggering a scene while i'm in monome control mode will screw up the led feedback. also using seven up live is a bit annoying currently as the led's strobe very rapidly...i don't know if that is adjustable or something on their end, but if that could be toned down it'd be awesome (i figured it was done to emulate a dimmed led through monomulator). generally i've had great luck with it, and if you can add in the additional functionality/pound out the bugs in this...i'd happily pay for it! thanks for your work thus far!

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
Hi, trying to get my head around this, but have little experience setting up the Midi ports.
I'm using a Macbook Pro, OS X 10.5.8
Can someone help me setup the inter-application bus, the tutorial video mentions (Midi oak + iec bus) basically in need to create the ports
APC emulator from Live
APC emulator to live
I think i can manage with the Molar, but in the ideal world i'll be able to work out the MlrV4Live - if anyone has any guidance in setting that up I'd love to hear it - I get the fear when i have to change internal programming, which it seems to mention.
Cheers in advance

This is confusing me a bit too. I tried to add another port to the IAC Bus, but the naming conventions don't seem to work out the way pictured in the setup video.
Everything seems to be working to a point, I've breifly tried 7up 2, and it kind of worked for a bit before freezing up on me. I was simply using the 'to/from Max MSP' ports though in place of the 'APC Emulator to/from Live'. Not sure if this was causing my problems, but I seemed to have the 2nd and 3rd clip launch buttons down from the top on the right hand side of the grid flickering continuosly.
Where do these 'APC Emulator' ports need to be created? Bomes? Audio/MIDI setup?

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
Ok I'll be bold and ask stupid questions. I only have Max For Live at this point. Any plans to make this into a Max For Live patch? Is that a ridiculous request? Is it even possible or are there easier ways for those in my position? Would this (Max For Live) be a more ideal environment for this kind of application with Live? I'm not very familiar with the monome or OSC. I recall that OSC was not supported in Live at this time but it seems like this could be done with a simpler configuration as there would not have to be any MIDI loopback.

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
so I have the monome emulation work to a point. Hoping someone can help me to make it 100%. the first issue I have is I cant not get the the track to stop playing once its been activated. secondly is the slider and keyboard dont work, im using IAC bus 3 and 4 for the sliders. im using Molar as the OSC with ableton 8.1 but without MFL. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
This is a great piece of software, i have gotten it to work with the mlr monome app.
However, im having a bit of a problem.
I have been trying to get other monome apps to work but when i load them they are completely unresponsive. I'm guessing its because i dont have the right OSC prefix for it. How do i go about finding out what i should put in the OSC prefix field for each app?
However, im having a bit of a problem.
