Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
It's astounding how many apps - from big name companies - are near to total shit; with ratings to match.
Case-in-point: BBC.
They have a pretty cool app, but the fucker's been broken for 2 weeks. When you start in landscape mode, all you get is white space in the story pane. Flip it over to portrait and back fixes this, but still....meh.
WeatherHD is another one. Yikes. My temp has been stuck at 64degF for the past week.
Weatherbug is now my goto weather app. Very nice. Reliable. All info on one page.
Anyhoo. Cruising through apps and there's just a lot of glaring issues with these things. Real WTF head scratchers.

Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
beats me wrote:$15 a month plan no good for streaming music. After about 6 hours it's used 101MB of the available 250MB. Damn, this brings me back to the AOL per hour charge days.
Yeah, that's definitely not going to work. heh. I'm on the $15 a month, but only because when I'm out and about I just need to check email, casual surf, etc. Got all my music I need onboard.

It (just) works fine here... no app update available?LoopStationZebra wrote:Case-in-point: BBC.

Cool, will have to check Weatherbug out... I'm using AccuWeather which is nice enough... though oddly not hugely accurate... the icon for a sunny day is so large it looks like it's announcing that the solar system is about to collapse as the sun goes supernova... which is nice...LoopStationZebra wrote:WeatherHD is another one. Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
Speaking of updates, getting app updates left, right and centre at the moment. Lots of bug fixes and some porting to Universal Binaries (e.g. bebot)...

Hmm, weird. I'll have to check my version. Are you on a 3G? They just had an update a few days ago - didn't fix the issue.

Do you know what a big FAIL still is on the iPhone/iTouch and now the iPad?
That you can't fucking stream your tunes to an Airport Express.

I don't want to use remote to control my Laptop to send music to my AE.
I want to bypass my laptop because, er, that's the poing of the iPad.

No, I'm just on the cheapest one, the non-3G one. The BBC app does take a while to update its blank story pane, even after the left-hand headlines have loaded, a good few extra seconds...LoopStationZebra wrote:8O wrote:It (just) works fine here... no app update available?LoopStationZebra wrote:Case-in-point: BBC.

Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
Could be wrong because I don't have iTunes at work but didn't it dedicate an entire app category from the drop down menu to weather? WTF? I can see a handful of apps being better than others or more extensive but dedicating an entire category to such information?
I checked out a couple of the diet and exercise apps because I thought it would be cool to have something where you could tell it you had 12 beers the night before and it would suggest "You need to jog 8 miles today, fucker" but apparently this type thing is still in it's infancy and I'm sure it's quite the daunting task to have all possible food and exercise combos in the database. Had to laugh that somebody pointed out on the top selling app in this area that it has just about all nutritional information for fast food chains but was missing a lot of other foods. You'd think that if you are willing to go to this level to monitor your diet you'd have the common sense to not eat fast food in general instead of wanting to know how many sit-ups to do to offset a Big Mac.

Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
I was a passenger in a car yesterday and I got to experience the unparalleled joy of surfing the net on 3g on a big(ish) screen while the unfortunate driver just got to experience stopping and going in work traffic. However the glare from direct sunlight on smudgies made it almost unviewable unless I held it thusly. Either I need to test a screen protector to see if I get better viewing in the sun or Apple needs to sell an outrageously expensive screen cleaning kit because I would buy it.LoopStationZebra wrote:You guys got screen protecters and rubber covers yet?
