I cant wait around any longer for Ableton to give us decent MIDI functionality, so what would you guys recommend?
Cubase studio 4
or
Sonar 7 producer?

i was using cubase sx3 and it automates every single parameter you can imagine.
cubase 4 is even better in the automation department.
i would use live for playing and then cubase for mixing.

And ENOUGH to the people that say "at least let us CHOOSE which 128 we can be limited to".
Fuck that! Every other DAW out there lets us automate everything we want, and I'm not going to be happy if ableton's solution to this unforgivable mess is to limit us slightly less. I'm tired of limitations, especially ones that have been addressed by every other company out there years ago.
#1 on your agenda should be figuring out a way of fixing this and giving us access to ALL of our vst's parameters!
GREAT IDEA

Dam Right! I'm with you on that one...
Firstly though I am using version 6 so can anyone tell me if any of this has improved with the newly released version 7 ???
I also think a lot could be improved with speed at which you can automate parameters.
PLEASE SEE MY POST / POLL HERE:

Thanks

Doing the above idea would create a huge list of parameters to scroll through so vote for my idea here...

I actually have live 5 and use it a lot for loops. I decided recently though to 'upgrade' to cubase 4 as my main daw. The simple fact is i have some plugins i couldnt automate in live and that was just rediculous.
I still love the way live works and if they get this sorted in the future i may even jump back to it. It's just such a shame to let such a seemingly basic issue force me into making a change.
That said cubase is allso a nice program so i guess i have the best of both worlds.

hellooooooo..
Is anyone there?
A few of us would appreciate the option to automate more than the first 128 parameters of a plugin. fix it.

Nobody's listening, they're busy coding their new vocoder plugin

NI does know this.
but it is kind of a bigger deal. so we will have to wait.
i think we will have to wait until live 8.
and i ask myself why they didnt fixed it when they did the new midi and audio engine?
Bizarre behaviour

Code: Select all
some of us want to use it as our midi sequencing tool and all around DAW as well. If ableton wants to compete in this market, it better start providing standard features that every other DAW had YEARS ago and most of us NEED in order to maintain workflow in Live.
Right. I can hardly believe that such a company would not be able to solve such a problem if it concentrated on it. If Ableton wanted Live to be just a DJ tool, one could understand that they would not care much about MIDI parameters automation. But obviously the company wants Live to appear more and more as a full-featured DAW - and at the same time they are undermining their own appeal to DAW-interested people with a problem which that kind of audience will necessarily find dissuasive - .

BUMP!
This is really annoying. Shouldn't this be a small fix? Extend the parameter window and load all parameters.
