That's a pretty good deal at Best Buy. You're CPU meter results are good too. I want to see how fast the AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black at 3.4 or above runs now. I might actual switch back to AMD.

Here are some test results from my HP Envy 15 Moble i7 Laptop.

1) Ableton Live CPU Meter 28%
2) Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model? HP Envy 15 Laptop
3) Operating System? Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
4) Ableton Live version? 8.0.9
5) CPU Make, Model, and Speed? Intel i7-720qm 1.60Ghz
6) Amount of Ram? 6 Gbs 1333 DDR3
7) Soundcard (and driver version if you know it)? Built-in IDT, ASIO4ALL
8) Hard Disk Drive Speed (if you know)? 7200 rpm
9) Number of playback tracks? 8

Seems to run as well as the Q6600 (non-overclocked) desktop it is replacing. The hard disk it came with seems to handle the intense Ableton libraries well, with minimal dropouts and quick loads.

Avoid Nvidia?

Post by #1thelark » Thu Dec 10, 2009 1:18 pm

Need a hint for a low-budget graphics card without a fan... which card would you recommend?
I read that Nvidia may cause audio glitches? So according to that I should avoid Nvidia and go for AMD? How 'bout GPU and VRAM speed, does it matter at all if I'm only using Live and no games at all?

Cheers
