I want to believe too. but i havent seen anything remotely like 'irrefutable evidence' The evidence for UFOs is on par for repeatability and credibility, is about the same as deducing the existence of Jesus from his appearances in food products.

Me too! Really wishing I could see something creditable this summer.

wtf do you mean by 'atomic engines'?? do you know in what way nuclear reactors are used for propulsion? do you know what quantum mechanics even means??

mentioning Carlos Casteneda in any thread like this is just retarded. it's beyond mentioning Hitler in any context.
Tone, he's probably referring to this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Or ... ropulsion)

it was a popular idea in the 60s, and is completely feasible. The main problem with it was political rather than scientific. If the US had actually built one, it could be part of the way to somewhere interesting by now.

it's not so much that it was that he went on to say that he knew quantum physics and knows how nuclear reactors work but when pressed on it he just turned troll and went on the character attacks, which I followed. he's a bullshitter.

of course he'll come on and say of course that's what he meant. how convenient.

Agreed Hitler is a worst case scenario, and Casteneda is modern mythology, with no relation at all to science. Personally I think people cling to Casteneda in any thread about borderline science in an attempt to make sense of their own limitations intellectually on subjects they don't understand. I can truthfully and honestly say I can't begin to understand Quantum physic or mechanics, and barely know why they say physics and mechanics at different times, even after reading up on it numerous times! but I'm not about to pretend that I do, or to reference new age movies in an attempt to make it metaphysical.
seems I touched a nerve with the Castaneda comment... I've also read the stuff that pulls him apart so it might well be bullshit, but he was just an easy example to represent a whole swathe of shit on the subject.

But I think that's a bit stupid to say anything at all that hasn't been disproved has no relation at all to science, unless you know all there is to know about the universe and everything in it? And anyway, since when is "do you believe in aliens" a scientifically pure thread?

point being, there are major holes in all the theories to date, meaning in other words that we haven't really got a fucking clue what is going on beyond a certain point.

I kind of like the thought that some of these old shaman dudes who have lived for thousands of years in a way that is very different to the "western" way of thinking might have started to discover some things about how we interact with the universe that is harder, or slower, to discover when you explore from a point of view where everything has to be proven or formulated mathematically.

Talk to some old Yogis who've spent years doing Kriya yoga if you want a really weird take on things... some of these old mystics are not complete fuckwits and have some pretty profound knowledge.

Whether or not Castaneda is genuine is a different matter, I just used him as an easy example, but there are plenty of others who have said similar weird stuff.

Has anyone checked out the Canadian Government site yet? Look, obviously people more than 50 years ago took this seriously, it was going on, look through the scans of history and tell me all of these witnesses are crazy and should be committed. When you look at the data, trustworthy people in government took this seriously. Then, one day they changed their minds and began telling people they are only seeing weather balloons

You want more shit to look through? let me know.

goddamn you're dense, that's not what went down. it was DrX saying he knows some shit, when pressed on it he turned troll. he's gullible. it's the same thing with religion "if I don't understand it, it must be god" I saw him doing the same thing with aliens FFS.

...and why are you at home at 4pm? how old are you? I'd say no older than 15, you spell like a third grader.

Pics and videos dont prove anything...ever. 'cept maybe sex.

Abort you might find it interesting to get a pair of decent binoculars and look at the moon. If you look enough you will see interesting shit, mostly space garbage. Last weekend you could see the space station with the naked eye. There's some websites that will let you know about cool events you can see, just search. I love stargazing.

joao magueijo has some interesting theories on the speed of light and other stuff that I found really interesting. He has a good doc called "the big bang" In which he explains that he thinks einstein was wrong about e=mc2(which would mean most of our knowledge of physics is bunk) and a whole bunch of other cool stuff. I ordered his book today, I hope its good.

 Heheh well maybe not everyone in government is an arse, but most of them

And Tone, sorry but it does appear like a 'whose smarter' argument...

....but yes, quantum physics are a realm we are only beginning to understand, im not going to claim to be a hadron collider expert or anything here, but about 10 pages back I was trying to stress the very fact that we are still infant in our understanding of physical reality.

So what in the physical realm, governed by the nature of inertia, light takes billions of years to reach us? Thats natural law. But, maybe when we can manipulate (by advanced quantum mechanics) the natural inertia of physical tendancy we can travel great distances in the blink of an eye?

I'll say again I'm no scientist, you can say things against what I say to prove me wrong(I don't care, and I'm open to criticism), but at least I understand basic concepts behind certain complex theories that can explain space/time travel and logic. Nobody really needs a degree in science, to contemplate/pitch ideas out that make sense. Yes I understand that science is the persuit of truth by experimentation, but most areas of science are still little understood.

Anyway before you start picking apart the minor details of what I say(if you care to) and go off into a tangent of redundancies I think the discussion should remain on topic
thanks

S
There are those, like jaoa, with respectable cred that are trying to prove what we know so far is foundationally(not a real word I know) incorrect.
