give us the AAS presets that went with Analog, Electric and Tension. they were MUCH better than the ones Ableton gives us. I'm forgetting other improvements I'd like to see.
Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?

Gor Live 9: better crossfades
plus some other stuff people have already mentioned. No need for more instruments/effects IMO. Stability and core functionality is what I value most. Oh, and open up the API for the M4L wizards!

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
Not sure if these have been covered.
The two main things that would make my work flow more efficient.
I work in sections in the session view where each scene is a variation or part.
For example, scene one is an intro, scene two a variation of the intro, scene three a bridge to the first verse and so on..
I also use grouped tracks to build up layers.
Right now if i want to disable the stop buttons in a group i have to extend the group to do so.
It would work way better for me if i can leave the group collapsed and be able to just remove the stop button
on the groups master track and have that affect all of the stop buttons on that scene inside the group.
My next one is related to clip automation in session view.
I use hardware synths and would love to see an assignment button on the external instrument plug.
That way you could have the external instrument plug assigned to a hardware synth, hit the assign button, move a knob or slider on the hardware
and have it mapped to a macro in the same way the VST/AU midi controller assign already works.
It doesn't have to get the name of the knob or what ever controller it is, there could also be a way of being able to name it using command- r.
Other than these two things..
A convolution reverb/host would be very cool.
Pitch shifting/Time stretching in sampler.
Assignable LFO, or the ability to use simpler as an LFO.
An assignable ADSR plug. Or better yet, a multi point envelop generator that can have nodes added and assigned a task, think absynth.
Be able to have the arpegiator fold out and have a matrix display where we can choose a set of note relationships and time definitions. If you have FM8 you'll know what i mean.
Oh.. and for complete nonsense.
A universal randomizer that could be put at the front of a chain and could be set to change every plug after it at some % between 1= only a little bit, to 100 = absolute mayhem...

-stepsequencer
-loopfunction on the fly like NI traktor (not like looper)
-matrix sequencer like http://lab.andre-michelle.com/tonematrix
-nudge-function per clip
-the "old" live 7 warpfunction
-drumcomputer like reason redrum
-better overdrive like reason scream

1.Detachable mixer like Cubase , Studio One , FL Studio
2.Multi Timbral Drum Rack and Impulse pads like Guru 1.6
3.Instrument Channel.. when selected its ready to record , instead of having to press the RED button
4.Simple Subbass synth
5.Envelope Shaper that works like Cubase own .I found all others doesn't do the job as good as Cubase

a forum dedicated to our wishes.
perhaps called something like "Future wishes", or "Wish for Features", something like that.
That would be excellent.
Without that we are forced to post in a weird thread on the wrong forum, which makes it near impossible to filter.
Why-oh-why-oh-why wasn't a wishlist forum set up for this purpose over 8 years ago ?
WHY ?

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
I would like to see some improvements in controller mapping.
I have one controller which I use to control all my live instruments.
I have mapped my controller to automatically control knobs 1-8 in the racks, so each time a rack is selected, I have instant control of that rack.
So far so good.
However, If I have an instrument rack and an effects rack in the same channel, my controller changes setting on both inst and effect rack at the same time, which is no good as I would rather it only controlled one rack at a time.
Now, unless anyone can give me a solution to my troubles, then i'd like to see this subject addressed properly in the next update.
Such an update might even make me want to buy it upon release, especially if they sort out the majority of the bugs BEFORE they expect anyone to stump up the cash.

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
I changed from Cubase on Atari ST to Logic in 1996 on Mac(!!!) and I could assign ANY comand to a keyboard shortcut and on top of that there was a shitload of commands that would only work from key strokes (pick and assign yourself) so I had it set up that a selected note could be nudged (arrow keys and pressing modifier keys) beat/4th/8th/16th/32nd/tick bloody brilliant!
The LEAST we should have is all the command that can be excuted from the vrious pull down/right click menus should be assignable to a custom keystroke.
Doing stuff you do over an over with the mouse is a totally AMATEUR way of working, not to mention, it gives you RSI. Talk about ergonomics, I had to change to a trackball because my wrist was giving me shit. Other than that, less features and less bugs please. Every new point release fixes things and introduces new bugs, this is bizarre. It is never so bad that (for me) that I can't work but it's irritating.
Lastly what's with the crazy long installs and fiddling with my library, and what the hell does repair library do? It's not in the manual.

It checks all the Live Packs in your library against potentially new ones in the new Live install and updates the contents.djsynchro wrote:what the hell does repair library do? It's not in the manual.
As of recent versions, it'll also hide presets you cant load anyway. For example, Tension presets will be hidden for people who don't own it.
On top of that it creates a database which should provide faster search, comments for presets are loaded and it probably checks all preset files for missing samples.

Looks like "Stability" will make it in Live 8 after all!

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
revolutionary feature :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QxN1u7K ... e=youtu.be
Still no clue why all music software don''t have this feature since 10 years, especially since this feature works on a vulgar IPHONE !! Maybe Live could at least be the first one having it. Big revolution in the way of recording parts I think
Totally cool possibility to control any software synth by just singing the notes. Voice is the first natural musical interface for a human. Therefore probably the one we should be using to enter notes in a sequencer
I don't see this as a little on-the-side extra feature ; if it works well, this could be at the heart of recording midi in live ! And just think about marketing this, logic is gona be so pissed when they see that ! ^^

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
Ability to record live controller automation in to session view clips
Built in LFO´s
Bezier curves for envelopes

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
* LFO plugin able to hook up to any parameter on any device on a track, either VST or native.
* SPEED!!! Takes ages in opening mid sized projects.
* Memory footprint: 32 bit OS and RAM are bad enough as they are.
* Performance: please optimise the crap out of it.
* External instrument freezing: at least doesn't seem to work for the Virus TI, instead one has to record manually on to a separate track.
* When creating a new track, no need to specify whether it's MIDI or audio. Just determine its type when something gets dropped on to it.
* Freeze & sidechain: considering the source of the sidechain is digital audio, it makes no sense whatsoever it can't come from a frozen track.
* Partial freezing: sometimes a sidechained plugin (eg a compressor or a gate) are added at the end of the chain. I would find very useful if a track could be frozen up to that point, fx after that point have to be live.
* MIDI scanning: the fact Live needs to be restarted to pick up MIDI devices is quite frankly shocking, especially considering it's a live performance tool among other things. I can picture moments of panic at a performance because someone pulled accidentally a cable, this combined with the fact that project loading is slow is a recipe for disaster.
