How about we pile up all their Christmas presents and we each pick one?

If you want to play the fanboy and be rude to people who have had issues with Live, that's your choice, but that attitude is a big part of the problem Ableton have identifed, not part of the solution.

Ableton have decided to take a different and much more positive path of admitting there are problems and that they've got it wrong. I very much hope they follow that through because I do care about Live, about my investment in it, and about the reputation this software has.
Oh, I'm not rude to people who have issues with Live, just you cause on here and kvr you have jumped all over this and don't miss any opportunity to twist the knife more and claim your pound of flesh while at the same time pretending to 'care'. Your sanctimonious attitude is nauseating.
I guess enjoying a pint together down at my local is out of the question then? Pity...

Perfection is a very hard quality to achieve.. But I know that is what the Abes strive for..

Sorry if I sound like a fanboi.. but I can't help, but to admire and support them.

Thanks for your honesty, dedication and inspiration Abes.

Happy 2010 too!
Let me join you even not being a fanboy too.
Since my upgrade when it was 8.0.3 suite I did not suffer a crash.
Then it came 8.0.4 stopped there and release an album with that
and now I'm on 8.0.8 suite because of Launchpad, working even better.
Maybe I'm lucky...
Something could have been done better and somethings I'm asking since Live 5 are still
not there...but I praise Ableton for all their efforts.

I hear you on group tracks. They got me back in November. I posted a thread about it. I had an anomaly with volume that made it sound as though the automation I deleted was still there. It wouldn't go away... then when Nico at the Abe Cave offered to have a look at the clip for me I was deleting everything to send it by itself and it started working. Turned out to be group automation... even though I deleted it. It was weird.

Still, it seems like you are angry about Ableton not doing... exactly what they're doing now.
So basically now you're upset that they didn't do it sooner.
You've waited this long... be patient. give em a couple of weeks to see what they can do when they're focused as a group.
You might be pleasantly surprised...

I will see.. when they are wise they will consider the actual status of grouptracks as a bug..

i reported it as a bug that you cant erase or duplicate time on grouptracks..as you can read in the bug forum..
got the answer there that that is not a bug because it never was intended to deliver that functionality in live 8..
what is clearly not what the user expects when he buys a feature called group tracks.

anyway.. we will see..maybe they change theire mind and bring live 8 to the state it should be..regardless of prior statements or splitting hairs on the question if something is a bug report or a feature request...

its not too much to ask for, a complete implematation of grouptracks.. to have them labeld is maybe just an optical bonus..even when i personally dont think so..

but to have them working in arrange is absolutly essential.. everything else kills the workflow on projekts to such a dgeree that you better dont touch grouptracks at all..

so its a shame that live 8 was delivered like that.. it wasnt so obvious before because of all the crashing i had a never came to the point of arranging much..

I really wonder why this hasnt been critizised by users that dont had crashproblems..

its really strange with the ableton userbase..ist so totally different to the user base of other daw´s..
like a herd of sheep in a way.. maybe ableton users smoke too much weed?
and because that they spend than more time with theire playstation live appears bug free and perfect than?

If the userbase is not critical enough ableton should be more critical about themself..

at least when they want to be seen as one of the big daw´s one day...

Hello,

Please see the Live 8.1.1 changelog: you can now delete, copy/paste or duplicate a closed group track time range in Arranger, or closed group track slots in Session.

ok.. good

I have overseen it in the changelog and have stopped trying the program.. sorry..

But its surprising after the answer i got in the bugforum it dont sounded like that will be fixed anywhere soon...
seems that some things are really changing...
but better like that, i can rest my case now

so i wasnt ripped of with live 8 ..got the features i payed for plus the experiance to be forced into half time ranting.. just all delivered a bit very late.. 8 month late
anyway.. time to move on the wonderfull world of logic 9 is waiting.. the new pedal board is so damn great..you should try it ..good fun

oops sorry, a search made me find the truth again: it's been implemented in 8.1, and as a matter of fact we were very late in delivering the change log. So I guess it was easy to miss.

I love Ableton Live. It's a great program. But, and it's a real biggy for me, as well as fixing bugs (which I must admit, has been quite a few since Live 8...) please please PLEASE work on making it more efficient too. I know Live operates differently to other DAWs, but it's a real factor for me that Live just isn't that efficient. It's quite a bloated program and I always seem to run out of CPU quite quickly, even on my new Mac Book Pro. Logic has always been very efficient, even with the same track and plugin load, but Live just seems to eat up CPU.

Please make it a priority to get it efficient as well as bug free... Then you'll have a really decent foundation to build on in the future.

Do a Snow Leopard, basically. (...and I don't mean have sex one by the way)
