Problem is you need a decent response time for that, the midi remote scripts arnt time accurate, youd need to do the drum pads over midi or something along side livecontrol. Not worked out a good solution for that yet.

How is it that iTM had a keyboard as part of the package for the iPhone and, over wifi, there was virtually no latency? What's different about that app as compared to what you've setup?
I came for the
But stayed for the :x

ST8's talking about using midi remote scripts which is what LiveControl uses, over OSC. You can still make a TouchOSC layout (using OSCulator) with drum pads and you won't have any latency issues as you've already seen videos demonstrating that. Not sure what it is about LiveControl that ST8 seems to think is not suitable for decent response time for drum pads.

Just tried the latest installer from (5/10/10) and it worked just fine for me (Macbook Pro, 10.5.8, Live 8.1.3). I updated the template layout too since I figured your latest changes needed that. The installer automatically filled itself with bonjour host names for both my laptop and my iPhone, once I unchecked the "use ip address" checkbox.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the Network configuration TouchOSC itself. I have to use ip addresses in the Host field. Using bonjour hostname makes Live stop receiving messages from TouchOSC (whether I use .local. or .local). And there seems to be no way to change the Local IP address field which automatically fills with the ip address of the iPhone. Is that how it's suppposed to be, in that we still have to use IP addresses on TouchOSC network configuration?

Anyway, it's all working great here. I like the mute/stop buttons under the clip matrix.

*edit*

Got the sequencer working, a bit weird the way you have it set up but it works!

Any idea why Live Control doesn't work with sets that were made, well, in this case, two weeks ago? (before I got Touch OSC/Live Control).

can you email me the liveset (without samples) or enable debugging. Then start the logserver in LiveControl, then start Live. There should be some output in the Debug window you can email to me with the relevant errors.

Ive found the bonjour names to be flakey. Sometimes i need to start the LiveControl.app before live so it announces the bonjour names properly, then they are resolvable and work in live. Soemtimes i have to restart TouchOSC once live is running.

If you've got "use ip addresses" ticked, then the local an and remote ip address should automatically be set when you select a TouchOSC service. It'll find a local ip address on the same subnet as the ipod/ipad automatically and save the configuration.

If you untick this box, then select your ipod it should fill both fields with bonjour hostnames.

Could anyone help me with that "Connection Failed!Timed out" error in TouchOSC...
I'm not able to upload the "LiveControl.touchosc" preset to my iphone...
Everything seems to be correct in TouchOSC Network and no extra firewall is present in my PC.. :(
TouchOSC's presets works fine with PureData and i'm able to control Live
I use a Linkys router to connect iPhone with my PC (maybe some settings must change there???)
Am i missing something..???

You can try adding the actual ip address of your host computer directly in touchosc.
Under Add Layout, tap Edit then hit + and enter the ip of your computer. Ive had this issue a few times but its not persistent

yes the python version in osx 10.6 is 2.6, live needs 2.5.1 :)
That's exacly 2.5.1?

Logically, no. But everywhere it is this version that's mentioned (never "or later").

I have the same problem with ONE of my laptops.
The laptop is recognised in TouchOSC, but when
I select it I get the timeout error.
Using TouchOSC works, only upload is broken.
Can't find a difference in the network setup
of the laptop that works and the one that doesn't.

As we have heard this several times, is it perhaps
a bug in TouchOSC or the editor ?
