"Osama Bin Laden finally killed: it is a miracle by John Paul II."
(the blond one claimed that: she is an italian pro-berlusconi and postfascist politician, member of his government)
Funny that here (Italy) we laugh at this shit. In U.S.A. most of the people still believe the 9/11 was a "huge tragedy" and islam terrorism is for real, right?
... well, at least it's funny because half of the dumb world believe in this old slick italian fairy tale of the jesus christ, saints, the pope and such

Saying something on here to make myr go on a pic rage is akin to giving a kid a bag of Skittles and watching him fly around the room.
Granted, the Jack Nicholson one is nice.

american jesus for rich white yankee families:
Crucifixion: victims were left on display after death as warnings to others who might attempt dissent. Crucifixion was usually intended to provide a death that was particularly slow, painful, gruesome, humiliating, and public, using whatever means were most expedient for that goal. While a crucifixion was an execution, it was also a humiliation, by making the condemned as vulnerable as possible. Although artists have depicted the figure on a cross with a loin cloth or a covering of the genitals, victims were actually crucified completely naked. When the victim had to urinate or defecate, they had to do so in the open, in view of passers-by, resulting in discomfort and the attraction of insects.

When romans and in particular italians invented the christianism it was because it had very scary contents: the crucifixion and the symbol of the cross have nothing to do with palestinian followers of the various jesus christs (thousands at the time). The cross was just one of the system the romans had to execute subversives and slaves. Among these there were those so called "christs" who fought for independence from roman empire. They had other symbols, of course (i guess the fish and other cosmic symbols). It is like... i don't know... like if the talibans had electric wires as sacred symbols because the americans kill people on electric chairs. Something stupid. The same kind of "scary warnings" are nowadays used for the americans, who have those very graphic systems (electric chair, poison in veins etc.). These are just very graphic ways every dictatorship uses (romans, U.S. etc.) to scare population and "warn" them with fear.
Now, imagine a religion with the electric chair as a sacred symbol
After 300-400 AD the crucifixion became obsolete in italy as a torture system, and new methods of torture and execution were invented. For instance the stake. People were very scared about the power of the church. Religion is just this: scaring people through torture and death, hell, devils, fire etc. The rest is just some simple and very elementary moral rules for social control, order and law ("don't steal", "don't kill", "don't rape someone's wife" etc.). I doubt a normal adult nowadays can be such dumb to believe in jesus, saints, angels, devils etc. If he does, it could be because ha has some mental illness, or because he is very ignorant and his mind is like a 3-4 y.o. child's one. Or perhaps because he earns money with this crap (priests, preachers, etc.).

actually, the bible doesn't say not to kill.
the 7th commandment which is often translated as "thou shalt not kill" doesn't mean anything of the sort. It would be better translated as "thou shalt not kill another Jew unless you have a good reason."
Consider that the same God that delivers that commandment to Moses turns around and tells Moses' son to go kill every man, woman, child, animal and to sow salt into the fields of Canaan.

Yes, the "Do as I say, not as I do" mentality was always a bad form of parenting, imo. SMH
Why would you want to follow that kind of god anyway? What a dick.
So even if he did exist, people would still be idiots just for worshipping him.

Well, everyone knows (at least here) that the so-called "ten commandments" (those some billions dumb jesus fans pretend to respect and follow) are actually a late italian interpretation of some primitive and rude laws (more than 10, actually... I guess 20-30) of an ancient israelitic clan. The "10 commandments" copyrighted by the Church Corp. were invented in 800 AD. Nowadays they have become "poetic", a sort of "peace and love" agenda

But they were intended as taboo rules for an ancient clan in which women were raped, people killed, animals and children sacrified, etc.
There is nothing "poetic" in the bible, actually. It's a sort of horror gore story, although badly written, good for ignorant people: the more ignorant, the more scared. The more scared, the more obedient. The more obedient, the more slaves. The more slavish, the more hunger and grief. The more hunger and grief, the more power to the church and the lords of war. It works like this in the west, since about 1700 years. Guess why the Church corporation has always been afraid of science, medicine, technology, etc.

The real pain in the neck for the church was the french revolution, illuminism and industrial revolution. They said "fuck, we are fucked now!". that is why the Church is very friendly with dictatorships (expecially fascists and capitalistic ones) and lords of war. Oh, and banks, too

While faith may seem superstitious or infantile to you, it's not for many people.
And yeah, horrendous things have been done by the church and in the name of religion, but so have atheist countries like China and the Soviet Union.
I just try to treat people on a case by case basis, rather than make generalizations.
In this big bad world, just because someone has a different opinion than you, does not make them dumb.
