Uh oh. What’s the Waves Update Plan? Got an email from them giving me a discount offer on upgrading the Gold bundle to Platinum and at the bottom it says it comes with a year of Waves Update Plan. That sounds suspiciously like if some bug is discovered or the plugin no longer works because of a DAW update/upgrade if I’m not part of their update plan then I am SOL unless I pay more to get it to work. Please tell it isn’t that ridiculous. :x

^ no, it means that if they come out with a new version you're all set.

i don't know how important it is anymore to keep up with it... during the whole 32 bit - 64 bit conversion phase it was a damn good thing. it's why i was looking at the upgraded options when i was wasted; most of my Waves plugs were still 32 bit and i had some old recordings i wanted to work (again) on with a vocalist the next day... i've switched to a Mac and 64 bit OS since the last time i recorded her. anyway, to get a new version that has AWESOME NEW PRESETS! doesn't really fucking matter unless you're anal like that.

Oh. That is an upgrade, not an update and they should advertise it as such. Or are all their plugins on something like version 1.36.45 going back to release day? But I see they convolute it further with things like the L1 and L2 limiters. So to keep up to date with latest features on the L1 limiter you have to pay for it or subscribe but still won’t get the magic of L2…pay again for that…and the update fee on it too.

64 bit, pretty much industry damn standard at this point, should be part of a FREE update.

FFS. :x

yeah, it's definitely convoluted. it's all about grace periods and such. the longer you wait to update/upgrade the more it costs to do so, but it's still cheaper. it's like upgrade insurance... or paying money down for the next version... i guess. the cool part about it is you can purchase the update path option later. this is good for bundles where buying it one plug at a time would break the bank. or when you take valium with sake ande try to make a decision.

there are advantages but, it can get as complicated as some of the algorithms they use in the plugs themselves. :x

Reminds me of NI's failed attempt Komplete Care, or IK Multimedia's convoluted "Jam Points". IMO only better if you own a lot of Waves plug ins, otherwise annoying.

Right, but if you own two or three Waves plug ins like I do it's STUPID

You have to figure if you're paying 1K plus they should be in your favor, but comparing buying PSP plug ins to Waves in the traditional sense, by single purchase, then PSP, Fabfilter etc. are way better.

I broke the tip on the charging cable for my subpac. Devastating. Not because I need it for gigs or even production, but because after tilting them back on weekends it single-handedly keeps me from calling my roommate all manner of pussy for calling it a night at 8:30, or drunk dialing/texting people, or going out and spending money at bars while creating fuzzy bad memories. Instead I would just sit in my chair with my headphones and subpac and listen to music at arena volume and bass levels without disturbing anybody. Replacement charger should be arriving in the mail, hopefully by tomorrow. :x

It’s pretty damn awesome. Music production aside, just for enjoying music or even a movie without disturbing anybody. It does emit a vibration buzz at high volume but it shouldn’t disturb anybody that isn’t in the same room and there is no wall or floor vibrations. I’ve blasted it past midnight and no complaints from neighbors.

Have you got the one that goes on your chair or the backpack one?
I'd really like one but I reckon I want the backpack one m1/m2 for rocking out purposes.
Someone on Reddit seemed to think that the chair ones were much better.

I got the chair version because I thought the wearable version would be kind of awkward to strap on every time and then I would walk away and yank cables. But the chair version also works on a rechargeable battery and audio over Bluetooth but I could never get the sound to come out of both the SubPac over Bluetooth and my audio interface at the same time.

I went to watch a demo video of an effects plugin on Youtube. The dude showed you how to open it in the DAW and then briefly described what the few parameters do and never ran any audio through it. Better still he did the same video multiple times in different DAWs because he didn’t want Logic users to miss out on that extremely helpful information because they use Pro Tools. I didn’t know plugin unboxing videos were a thing. FFS. :x

As somebody who mixes almost exclusively on headphones (because I'm extremly self-conscious about my music and because my HS5 speakers severely lack bass) I am intrigued. :)

Heavyocity is giving away some free production loops based on DM-307 & AEON collection in WAV, REX, and Apple Loops format

http://www.heavyocity.com/introducing-h ... ion-loops/

DM-307 I thought I would get for sure with the 50% off holiday discount but then passed after checking out other developer discounts.
