I'm sorry, it was up here ^^^^^ in the subject header.
The Line 6 Midi Mobilizer. It's no good for working with virtual instruments.

Oh, lol. Man, I never read the post headers. :P

Yes, the usefulness of the Midi Mobilizer has long past. They fucked up by thinking they were going to corner the market and making it proprietary - as opposed to just offering a standard MIDI to port cable that could easily replace the CCK and a USB-to-MIDI combo.

Devs are still supporting it, but pretty soon (especially with the emergence of new stuff like the iConnectMIDI and iODock), they will stop.

The dev behind the Bleep!box app has a good article he just posted on his blog showing the plus and minuses of the Mobilizer versus the cck method.

My iPad 2 shipped! I'll be having an iPad shower next Saturday and you're all invited. Bring your swimsuits and a positive attitude. :P

I owned the Midi Mobilizer for a week. The reason I sold it was simple: every MIDI app is going to support CoreMIDI, bar none. Not all apps will support the Midi Mobilizer.

The choice to dump it was a no brainer.

Oh, and speed wise? Nothing is going to touch iConnectMidi.

How much faster is iConnectMIDI than the MIDI Mobilizer?
Over one-hundred times faster.

Comparing apples to apples, iConnectMIDI uses full speed USB at twelve megabits per second. The MIDI Mobilizer uses serial communications at only 57,600 bits per second. Even accounting USB overhead, iConnectMIDI is a professional standard.

More importanly, iConnectMIDI is taking advantage of the new CoreMIDI framework introduced in iOS 4.2 - which removes all of the normal communication overhead as well as optimizes the iOS device communications with hardware MIDI connectivity. iOS with CoreMIDI is extremely fast with no perceivable latency.

:P

It remains to be seen how fast the iODock will be, but I suspect it's going to rival iConnectMIDI. The iODock is also CoreMIDI based. :P

The best thing about the iConnectMidi? Besides speed? It's all CoreMIDI. No fucking proprietary API to deal with... :x

As long as it doesn't have an ill effect on the positive attitude. :x

meh. iVI is acting up again. It no longer gives me show info. Pisses me off. And, as far as I'm aware, it's the only converter that will automatically look that shit up. :x

LSZ. There's 3 separate topics started by you on iOS MIDI on the main page. WHY? As if the topic itself isn’t already filled with potholes and inconsistencies, you also felt the need to cover it in three different topics (so far), oh, and in this thread too. :x

Keep this attitude up, Mister Man, and there will be a FOURTH iOS MIDI thread. :x

Maybe Tarekith can do a guide to navigating your multiple iOS MIDI threads in a way that is cohesive. :P
