Sure these scientists may have fudged data, and may be obsfucating their methods for reasons unknown. There are investigations going on at East Anglia, and I believe Phil Jones has stepped aside while the investigation is ongoing. There are absolutely vested interests on both sides of this debate.

You provided a link to Prof Carters page, who has been cited in the past for also not being transparent with his data, and for doing climate research for groups with vested interests.

But are you really trying to say that because some scientists may have fudged some data, that it immediately invalidates tens of thousands of peer reviewed papers done by tens of thousands of scientists? Ive seen no evidence that you can extrapolate Climategate to the wider scientific community.

Im not making a moral judgement about AGW any more than Im making a moral judgement to believe in the theory of Gravity. Both are unproven, but both fit the recorded observations.

Sure, post away, but opinions are worthless. The data for man made warming is overwhelming and you and anyone else can form whatever whack opinions you want. It will not change what is so one iota. The conspiracy deniers are so invested in their position that it does not matter that they have no evidence to support their position or that there is such a wide body of evidence in support of human induced warming. Doesn't matter. Once the mind is determined to believe something then it makes perfect sense that thousands of climate scientists around the world are secretly working together in a vast and coordinated conspiracy. Sorry, but that is called mental illness.

Burning fossil fuels liberates CO2 - undeniable fact!
Industrial Society based on burning fossil fuels increases wealth - Also fact!
Increased Wealth leads to reduced incidence of piracy - probably

So there is a reasonable explanation for the correlation.

What if the wealth was increased by piracy?

What if the pirates traded in their ships for limos, private jets and skyscrapers and instead of the usual jolly roger garb (as pictured tastily above by knotkranky) they've replaced it with business suits?

I haven't read all the thread and don't really want to get into an Internet discussion about this, just wanted to share a documentary i've enjoyed the most that speaks of these issues. It's called Home, shows the most amazing images of our planet, talks about our energy management, global warming and sustainability.
