Sort of like Guitar Hero except for drums and with your MIDI pad controller. Practice and win enough and you should be a better finger drummer for your own productions. There are 20 free lessons and after that you can subscribe for more content.
I was surprised at how much my timing is off but then determined after I practiced the beat a few rounds I did better just listening to the metronome and not looking at the screen. I used the Maschine controller which I had to use the Live 9 template on for some odd reason for it to work. Make sure you check there setup instructions for whatever hardware you have.
Possibly deserves its own thread but I don't think it would get the attention. The serious business forum is all about "my shit don't work!" now.

no sense in taking about anything that isn't broken or coming soon

Agreed. Anything that enables anyone here to actually make and improve some music is clearly out of bounds.

That’s why this humble thread is dedicated to buying gear and software you don’t need packed with exciting features you probably won’t use just for the fuck of it. Can’t complain about something not working when you aren’t using it.

Are you implying people here are
NOT complaining about missing or buggy features, even if they don't even use/need them anyway?

Good call. Not using or owning something has never been a deterrent to people complaining about it. “Deal breaker” is the among the bread and butter of internet forums.

Kind of like how some of the most prolific posters here don't even have a Live license tied to their accounts?

I've often wondered about that.
But I think some people might have fumbled their logins. Like: they have a "
[email protected]" account where they bought their software, and they also have a forum account login "
[email protected]". Never the twain shall meet.
There was a time, not so long ago - where this forum wasn't using a secure connection, and you may notice that you can log in here using your primary Ableton account. Meaning a man-in-the middle WIFI attack on a casual forum user might expose them to account fraud.
That got resolved.

Sometimes I've wondered if the long list of Ableton licenses on my account page is the only reason I've never been banned.

Wait, what? I could have become the most prolific poster on here without giving any money to Ableton?
Next you’re going to tell me there are other places on the Internet where I can post things for free.

Talk about small developer. Syntorial just sent out a newsletter asking if any user with good knowledge of their software wants to help them man their booth at NAMM. They’ll even pay. Otherwise it will just be 1 person at the booth for 4 days.

This definitely belongs in this thread.
I'm on the waiting list for the Raven MTi2

I think I get almost as much enjoyment out of tweaking sounds in plug ins as I do writing songs, so anything to speed that process up is a great advantage.

I know you are a multi-DAW gentleman like myself, but did you notice the 2 (and only) reviews on there are complaints about it not working well with Live, and it sounds like it's Ableton dropping the ball? I don't know what other DAW forums are like, or the touch of a woman, but I'd wager Live users want this whole touch screen DAW thing even more than other DAW users probably because of the heavy performance focus. Hopefully Ableton is putting some serious work into this.
I know touch screens will be a big part of the future but there are still a lot of things I think tactile controllers and even a mouse are going to be better for if for no other reason than a mouse driven pointer is going to be a lot more precise than your fat finger which also visually obscures what you are honing in on unless you zoom in to the level of it looking like Atari 2600 graphics.
But its still a welcome and worthy edition to the thread.

Tip top to you my good gentleman and fellow multi DAW user!

I'm definitely starting off with the Digital Performer software first. Slate charges for the various DAW apps for the Raven and yeah, I haven't decided whether the Live one is worth purchasing yet. I don't tend to need batch commands and I'm way more likely to mix down in DP. It's another indication of Ableton's lack of interest in keeping up on the bleeding edge of live performance features. No hate there, just flat observation, Bitwig made their whole DAW multi touch, Live has issues with a single finger. Another consideration, Novation has made their Live template into something even better than Push IMO, the first 8 faders control Racks, faders control the mixer and the next 8 are midi mappable.
It still uses Mackie HUI though I believe which is incompatible with the Raven. I think you still get basic single finger touch without the dedicated software, I have until late January until I get one and find out though!
The finger issue is kinda funny to me. You know these things work just fine with a tablet pen right? Considering the tablet pen is designed for use with a 15" or smaller device I'm sure the 27" Raven will be fine. So in that sense if you have the pen handy most of the Live issues are probably solved. I'm still going to hold off on buying the Raven Live software at first though.

It's a good thing you're thinking pen me thinks. first thing I noticed in that image was the big fat Protools hardware style faders... Live has lots of knobs and such but the faders in the mixer are tiny. other areas are cluttered.
